Hi! We are planning a vacation to Destin this summer. We are taking my parents (65 years old) and our 4 year old daughter. We decided on Destin after reading such great stories from other parents. However, there seems to be SO many different beaches within Destin and I am officially stressed. I have used VRBO to search for a place but again I just don't know which beach to pick. We are wanting a place on the beach. We never vacation so if we are finally going on one and drivnig all that way I want to be on the beach. Any great places to stay?

Everyone has given you some excellent ideas. I would like to tell you where to avoid. Anywhere near St. Joe's beach as the water is not as pretty.

Sandestin Resort. If you get the ocean side you can walk to the beach and the bay side has tons of restaurants and activities for everyone. And a couple of pools too. There is a playground on the bay side too. Also, there is a shuttle that goes between the two, so you only need to drive when you want to go off the resort. We book ours thru vrbo.com, so you can find some great deals . We love Destin!! It is our favorite beach getaway. You will have a wonderful time!

A beach vacation to Destin...how exciting!!! Our family vacation is in Destin this year as well. We are staying in a codo called Destin West. My hubby and I are taking our three kids and my parents so we found an amazing three bedroom condo at Destin West. The property has a lazy river along with several swimming pools and a splash park...very kid friendly. You can search on vrbo for the property (that's how I found it) or you can google destin west condo's. Good luch with your search...I know how stressful it can become...I had consumed myself with it all...trying to find the perfect condo for the perfect vacation. I'm sure you'll be happy once you get there!!!

We stayed at a pl.ace called Sea Breeze years ago and it was wonderful.Nice room and had two teens with us. Indoor outdoor pools and cooler and hotter hot tubs and the beach to boot. We had my parents with us. Fun I do not have a phone number just remember the name as my girlfriend has a six plex named the same in Comano Island near Seattle.

I just returned from Destin this past Sunday, yes through the snow! We stayed in a condo at Sandpiper Cove. It was great. They are all privately owned condos, not highrise style. There is a 3par golf course on site and the marina attaches for those who bring their boats. It is gated so you do not have to worry about drunk spring breakers coming through. The beach is right across the way with a private parking area. This is the next best thing to being in a private home. Have FUN! Call me to save on your electric bill or any beach questions.

We went last year to Destin with our 11, yr old, 10 yr old, 8 yr old and our 3 month old son. And we stayed at Topsy'l Resort and loved it. It was walking distance to the beach and so nice. You can look up the resort on line and check it out. It was nice because my husband could take the older kids down and when the baby was done napping I could join them. There was a kitchen in the condo so we could cook ourselves and it made our vacation so much easier. Hope this helps.

choose any condo on Scenic Hwy 98 - make sure it is on the beach - not across the street

We spend our summers in Destin and love it there. There are some incredible places to stay in Destin and all of the beaches are nice. What will limit where you stay is availability. We just had a wonderful experience with priceline.com so you might want to try it. VRBO is also a good resource.

As long as the address is Destin or Sandestin, you should be fine.

if you want a big resort beach experience, and it is your first time in Destin, I'd say go to Sandestin resort. You can't go wrong there and once you know the area you can chose among smaller/individually owned places. Remember if you go in the summer (esp. July IMHO) you are likely to get seaweeed and/or jellyfish part of the time, so staying somewhere with lots of pool options as a back up is a good idea.

We go to Sandestin at least once a year. We only stay at the Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort and Spa. You can't go wrong there.

It is a beautiful, gated area, lots to do, safe. We get a suite when we are there.

We were there all week for Spring Break last week and can't wait to work in another trip before school starts. Go to Seagar's for dinner....AWESOME dinner. Very pricey though...hubby and I spent $250 not including the bottle of wine.

I know that you said that you were going to Destin, but my family has gone to Panama City Beach FL for the last 6 yrs. We have stayed in the condos at Hidden Dunes, Gulf Crest, and Treasure Island. Our favorite is Treasure Island because it is more family friendly. Hidden Dunes is more upscale. We book through the website beachtravelgetaways.com . She seems to have the best rates and we have never been disappointed. I hope this helps!
