Daycare or Nursery School in Minnetonka Area for 2 Year Old

I need help looking for a great daycare/school/nursery school for my 2 year old. There are so many options here and since I just moved to MN from MO, I'm unfamiliar with all of them. I am looking for a school-like setting, not just someone babysitting her all day. She's a very active child and needs structure or else she gets herself into trouble. She's very outgoing and enjoys other kids, so I don't think an at-home daycare is really an option. My husband works in Plymouth, which means I'm open to expanding our search beyond just Minnetonka. Since I am a lawyer, I'll likely take the bar exam here or look for a job that doesn't require the bar as a job requirement, but I won't be able to do any of this until she is in a stable daycare situation. Any suggestions on places you like or dislike would be very much appreciated. I would consider full or part time daycare as well. Thanks!

If you are interested in having your daughter learn a foreign language in a school environment I would suggest the French Academy of Minnesota in St Louis Park. Children can start at 30 months of age and it is a great program. My daughter is finishing Pre-K (2nd year class) this year and is fluent in French already. For more information you can check out their website www.famn.org. I'm adding because I forgot to mention that they are moving to a nicer more convenient building off Hwy 169 at Cedar Lake Rd. It is right on the border of St Louis Park and Minnetonka.

Hello, My children have been going to White Bear Montessori School in White Bear Lake for 5 years now, and it was the best decision we have made. I work in Plymouth, MN as well, and we live in Roseville, but I could not imagine sending my children anywhere else. We started our daughter at WBMS when she was a mere toddler, and our son as well. They are now 6-1/2 and 5 years old and are thriving, grounded, peaceful, content. I am staggered by the care and dedication of the staff there. There are other *accredited* Montessori schools around - please look in this as you won't lose anything by calling and visiting the schools. Their website is http://www.wbms.org/ and you may ask for the Heather Will the head of the school. May you find the perfect place for your 2-yr old. Please feel free to email me should you have questions about WBMS or Montessori schools in general: ____@____.com the way, I used to live in MO (Columbia) as well! Good luck!! ~ C..

We take our two children to Holy Trinity Lutheran School. They have a daycare/preschool attached to the private K-4. It is on the corner of 169 Rockford Road. Borders Plymouth. We really love it and our son is the same way...very energetic and needs structure. They have a great structured program for toddlers and preschoolers. I believe it is $230 a week for toddler and $210 for Preschooler. The teachers are great! Our son is 2 and knows all of his colors and ABC's and his vocabulary has really expanded and we have attributed a bulk of that to the school he goes too....good luck! There phone number is ###-###-####. You can tell them Deandra referred you.

I don't know what part of Minnetonka you are in, but we take our daughters to Especially for Children in Eden Prairie, which is at the intersection of 101 and 62 (across the street from Mtka). We love it--it is more of a school setting, and they do tons of activities. My oldest is 2.5, and she just moved from the toddler room. They do things like water days most days in the summer, changing them into their swimsuits to play outside with water, and bring in extra classes, like sign language, music, etc. weekly. This is all included in the rate. My oldest just moved to the preschool room and she's already been on her first field trip to Edinborough park! The teachers are fabulous, as are the directors.
If that's the wrong part of town, I know my friend takes her daughter to the Primrose in Plymouth and really likes it. Good luck!

I am not sure where your husband works in Plymouth but our son attends the Goddard school in Plymouth and we absolutely love it! I think the structure and activities would be great for your daughter. It's near Hwy 55 and Cty 24. As far as closer to Minnetonka, I have heard great things about Kinderberry Hill but don't know anyone directly that goes there.

I can recommend St. David's right off Minnetonka Blvd, just East of 494. It is highly recommended and can do anything from 2 days a week to 5, and can do a half day (3 hours), a full day (6 hours) or extended care (I think is from 6am to 6pm). Our 5 year old is finishing his third year, and will start Kindergarten this fall. Our 2 year old son starts this fall, and our 1 year old will start next year. Here is the webiste http://www.stdavids.net/. Shawn is admissions coordinator. The main # is ###-###-####. They already did current family enrollment for fall and summer. They do new families after that. There can be wait lists but they do all they can to accommodate everyone. Teachers are excellent! Curriculm is fabulous. My son loves attending. Feel free to email or call me to discuss. I would also be open to setting up a play date. We are on the West edge of Minnetonka but have a 2 year old as well. I work full time outside of my home but would be happy to invite you all over some time to meet and let the kids play. We have a nanny during the weekdays so if it worked out, she would always be happy to meet or host a playdate as well.
Let me know if I can help.
Welcome to MN! It does get warmer.
