Daughter Sleeping More than Normal.

I have a 2 1/2 year old girl who goes to bed around 9 o'clock and normally would wake up at 9 am, but for the past week she has been sleeping until noon. And she still takes a nap at 3 for about an hour. I think 16 hours is excessive but maybe you guys can tell me otherwise. She is not sick but is getting her last 2 year molar (she didnt do this with the other 3). Also, I used to have to lay down with her to put her to sleep but now she just goes and lays down with my husband and doesnt seem to need me to put her to sleep because she is so sleepy. During the day she does not act tired or grumpy.

What can I do next?

Wow! My daughter has never slept past 8 a.m. in her life. It's a rare day that she's asleep past 7am!
I wonder if she's waking at night without you knowing it. It could be a growth spurt. However, I might call the pediatrician about it if it lasts more than a few days. Anemia (low iron) can make people excessively sleepy.
You might make sure she's drinking plenty of fluids too.

My kids have done this at different periods in their lives. I know this doesn't give you any reason for it, but it's happened to my kids too. I also noticed that they were like that again at around age 6.

My 2.5 yo slept till 10am yesterday. I think it was the rainy weather with a combo of other things. He also still took a long nap and didnt want to get up. He used to do this with he was getting a tooth as well. It normal.

I wouldn't worry about it...my daughter did the same thing. She's probably just going through a growth spurt...her body is just giving her the rest that she needs! OR, she could be coming down with a cold or something. Now if she seems lethargic most of the day, then you might want to call your pedi. I also remember reading something that said for 2-3 year olds, it's good for them to get 13-17 hours of sleep. I remember thinking it sounded like an awful lot, but guess not!

Sounds like a growth spurt. If she's not sick, then that's probably what it is.

Yea mine childs have seemed to be sleeping alot more lately. I have a son who will be 3 next mo and a dtr 18 mo. She just really got walking this summer and now she can keep up with him. So when they are up they play with each other, keeping each other busy. They sleep from about 930pm-10pm at nt and sleep all night through am till about 10. Then an afternoon nap for a few hours.

I was reading a baby magazine today and it had a chart showing how much sleep your baby should get. It shows 2 yr 11 hours at night and 2 1 hour naps. So they seem to be ok.

I was begining thinking they were sleeping to omuch. I fill better now.
