Cosmetology Schools

I don't think it matters, there is a place I've been going to on and off again to get my hair done.It dosn't look like much on the outside. The parking sucks, but I've never had any complaints about the job on my hair. It's called Mim's Beauty College, it's on Blanco by Nimitz Middle School. It dosn't matter if it looks high class, it just depends if you like the instructors, and that they teach right. Where I go they always inspect the students work and keep them busy, it is very neighborly and it looks like the students get along with each other. That is what matters.

I just signed my oldest daughter up for a cosmetology correspondence course through Stratford Career Institute. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the course material is exactly the same as that being used by our local cosmetology school. I had to pay $10 down, and about $30.00 per month for this. Anyway, just thought I'd add that in, even though you already have schools picked out. If it was me, and they are the same price, I would go with the one that has the best reputation, or the one where I feel most comfortable walking in.

Hi C.! Are you in the Austin area? I am.At the age of 16, I had finished cosmetology for manicuring and had gotten my first job in Austin. My mother thought I could earn a little income while going through school.The career was GREAT for me! I manicured my way through the University of Texas at Austin and paid for the entire degree in Economics and Business Adm and everything else.I too have two wonderful children, LOVE to bake (I have a commercial range in my kitchen;-)...and love healthy family time AND Margaritas too!

I believe that in picking out a cosmetology school, it is important that you pick one that makes you comfortable. I know a few of the better ones in the Austin/RoundRock area. I'd love to visit with you and share what I have found. More importantly than the school you attend, are the people you know that can make a good recomendation as to your talents and mostly your character. A high-paying and well-established salon is going to hire you by referral, not by which school you attended.Some of my friends in the business earn $70-$150 per haircut. Color is much more.It would be best to cultivate some great relationships as you go through school, so that at graduation you'll be a great position to get started at the right place!

If I can give anyone advice on which Cosmetology School they should not choose, it would be Central Texas Beauty College in Round Rock! I graduated last year from there, and learned just enough to get by and pass state board! I learned nothing, sure did not get my $6,500 worth! Worst school ever! Absolutely no structure! Find a good school where they are willing to teach you something! I have heard that Baldwin and Paul Mitchell were very good schools! Good Luck!

i was thinking about going into cosmetology school....if you dont' mind i'm wondering how much is the cost for the full course. i love hair and make-up. i really should look into starting school. what are the schools you are looking into?

What makes a real difference is the jobs there graduates are getting, and the skills they've learned. Look at the coursework for each school - does one cover sugaring and the other not, etc? You want as many skills as you can get (from whatever program you choose), because that makes you more marketable. You might also call a few of the salons in your area - talk to the person in charge of hiring, let them know you're looking at cosmetology school and see if they have a recommendation based on what they're seeing in the graduates they're employing.

I can recommend a great school names Mims on Blanco. I am a nail tech for 22 years, and those bigs glamorous schools just rip ypu off. This school is small and treat you like family, plus they have the best nail instructor in San Antonio "Sheri Ancira". She taught me every thing I know about nail art, gel nails, stipping, rhinestones, Solar Nails, etc. She's so classy and awesome and Sweet. Go check it out before you rush into anything. let me just say that I am actually starting back at baldwin tomorrow after not being in school for four years.. I have 300 hours left, and I will say that baldwin is hell.. and I mean that. It is all about your skills and not what school you go to.. but oh yeah and maybe don't go to janissa beauty school, a friend of mine went and learned nothing, and she is amazingly talented.. so good luck and hope it isn't too hard for you..
