I recently pulled out the Barbies from when I was a kid. I am trying to get them ready for my little girl to play with. Well I found out the hard way that the rubber bands discinigrated and fell crumbled in their hair. But what I was trying to figure out is how to wash the hair of the ones where I couldn't possibly get a brush through their golden locks. Does anyone have an idea about shampoo or dishsoap or is their something out there that I can use to clean them up. Any advice would be helpful.

I would use baby shampoo because it is gentle and maybe try detangler spray? I wash my daughters Barbies hair and have washed Barbies from when I was a little girl ( so they would be 10 years old or older) with not much hair loss. The Barbie hair seemed to be rooted better when we were kids, I have noticed her Newer Barbies seem to lose hair just from brushing the hair...but then again what wasn't made better 10, 20, 30 years ago = ) Lots of luck! I am sure she will love playing with them.

Check out a Barbie Collector's site. They will tell you the best way. I believe it is Dawn dishsoap and conditioner, but you still have to comb it out after that. You may also check with Mattel. I did this about a year ago, and think this was what I had to do. (I am very picky as I am a Barbie collector, so I wouldn't jsut use anything on our dolls' hair.) Anyway, prepare for an evening to do it, as it can be time consuming.

Rub them with alcohol on faces and arms legs like with several cotton balls until no dirt comes off on cotton. Then put conditioner in their hair, work thru w/ no shampoo. The alcohol kills germs and the conditioner will help you brush thru the hair then spray the hair out to rinse with something like a kitchen sprayer and style let me know how it works for U.
