I'm wondering if anyone has some good requests for classes for my almost 1 year old. I'm thinking more for Fall, since our summer is so busy. I've done Gymboree classes with my oldest daughter (expensive) and then I did Baby gymnastics classes at the Oswego park district with our middle child. But I do not see that they have anything anymore other than more open play type classes for mixed ages. I'm looking for something more Mommy/baby + teacher in a class with structure (singing, playing, movement) Any ideas? I know there is My Gym at Fox Valley but that is a little further than I wanted to travel and it's also expensive, so any ideas would be helpful. Thanks, J.

Hi J.,

Although it is as expensive as My Gym or Gymboree, we love the Music Together program. http://www.musictogether.com/

The best thing I do with my daughter, though, is a weekly play group. Around our children's first birthdays, a group of 4 of us started a play group. We take turns hosting the group each Thursday morning. We usually have coffee and a simple snack for the kids (graham crackers, gold fish). It is fun for the kids and a great support for the moms. Try finding a few other moms in your area. It has been wonderful for us!

Have you tried Kindermusik classes? My church (Community Christian Church) offers them in Naperville and Romeoville. They are wonderful classes and are just beginning new sessions for the summer.

Check out your local library. My daughter started a baby lapsit class at 6 months. We also participated in many music classes through the Music Suite in Naperville (check out their website). Did you check out your park district or YMCA?
