Carb Lovers Diet

I have seen the Carb Lover's Diet in my Heath magazines and am wondering if anyone has bought the book and tried it out? I have NEVER done one of the "crazy" diets before like a South Beach or Atkins. I workout 4-5 days a weeks and try to eat pretty healthy. I am a muncher though. I sit at a desk all day and get "bored" and want to munch. Typically I have fruit or yo-gurt, so not awful, but at night when the kids want Pringles (they are Light, but still pringles) or cheeze-its (baked) or anything like that, I am quick to grab a handful. I KNOW I shouldn't, but I can't be stopped ;) Uggggg.

Anyhow, I'd love to drop about 7 pounds and was wondering if this is an easy/simple, healthy way to maybe do so? If you have purchased the book, are there crazy receipes in there or are there food options for "normal" people? Have you had any success with it?

What can I do next?

Yes I bought the book - it was a great diet, if you only have 7 pounds to lose (jealous) you will find it really good. Great recipes, tips and snacks. I still occasionally have a banana smoothie because of it. Be prepared to eat lots of bananas, this is the staple of the book. you can eat chips, potatoes, lots of lovely carbs

I don't know the book, but I know there are good carbs and bad carbs. But I bet you know that already!

For me, protein is the only thing that helps me not to be hungry at night. I munch on a couple of those lower-calorie string cheese sticks (Frigo), and that helps me tame the hunger beast before I go to sleep.

Everyone needs all food groups. The key to a successful diet is knowing which carbs are good and which are bad. Which fats are good (yes, we need fats) and which fats are bad. Through Transitions Lifestyle System I teach people these answers and how to live with a low glycemic diet. I have watched students go from a size 16 to a 6. I have watched them overcome addictions to carbs. I have watched them lose the last 8 pounds of baby fat. I teach these classes at a doctor's office. It is a proven system. It is more effective than other programs (scientific evidence available). If you want to be coached, I am happy to help!

I don't know the diet so can't say. Be sure you are getting your protein.

I think the secret to dieting IS snacks.
Breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon (or about 2 hours before dinner) snack, dinner, evening tea with a little sweetner if you have a sweet tooth. All that said make sure there is protein in your snacks to help you feel sated and keep them fairly low calorie. I think that would help you avoid the cheeze-its (which would tempt me too!) because you will not be hungry.

Fad diets don't last. You already have a pretty good diet.

Here's what I know. When you give the body good nutrients, minerals, and vitamins the body doesn't crave the bad stuff or as much of it.

Do you take supplements? What about soy protein? If you don't, something as simple as this will get those 7 pounds off (those are the hardest too). Also, drink water? Half your weight in ounces a cold glass of water the body will burn 40 calories in warming it up and of course the other great benefits.

A diet is a lifestyle change. If you want to know what I have, call me at ###-###-####.

I don't know anything about the book but if the carbs you crave are pretzels, cheetos and bread, I would suggest upping fiber in your diet through high fiber bread and pasta and see if that helps you resist temptation. Take one of those high fiber sandwich thins, toast it, spread with a little margarine and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and eat that instead of pretzels. Or better yet, slice up a zucchini, dip slices in skim milk, than a mixture of parmesan cheese and bread crumbs, bake at 400 for 20 minutes or until crisp, than keep them in your fridge to eat when you have the cheeto cravings. I haven't tried it but I've heard you can also slice up string cheese and toast until crunchy. I think "Eat This Not That" books or "Hungry Girl" books might help you more than the Carb Lovers Diet. Both have websites, too, with free recipes. Good luck!
