I keep going back and forth on names. Everytime I pick one I think about what I would possibly name a sibling then the next thing I know I decide I can't use that name etc etc.

I'm driving myself CRAZY

Names i've considered and gone back and forth on:
Marlee
Lyla
Caroline
Elle
Grace

and then theres a couple names I have loved the whole time but still don't know if they are "right"
Abigail (Abby)
& Lucy

What are your opinions on these names? i'm just looking for help from anyone. I feel like naming is SUCH a hard decision :/

What can I do next?

Well they are all nice/cute.

Per "Elle." Some people will pronounce it as "El." And some will pronounce it as "Ella" and some will pronounce it as "Ellie."

The one I least care for is: Marlee. Reminds me of a dog's name. Per that movie?

Grace is nice, but I know many little girls, named Grace. But it is a nice name.

I love Caroline b/c I love old fashioned names coming back!! Marlee makes me think of the dog on Marley and Me. Grace is getting to be a bit of a fad name. I also like Elle, but Caroline wins for me!

Um, I am kind of in love with Marlee. Marlee Grace sounds so cute. Really, they are all lovely. I love Abigail, but I dislike Abby as a nickname. To me, it depends on what sounds best with the middle and last name, what flows best. When having a hard time with names, look at their meaning and see if one tugs at your heart. Also, some of these old fashioned names are getting very popular, so it depends on if you want a cute trendy name or want to keep it original. Look up last year's top 100 names if it matters to you.

For my second, we had two names picked out. We decided to pick the one that he most looked like when he was born.

naming is crazy isnt it? I didnt name my second son until the day he was born and my MIL showed up and suggested "Sam"... she was an awesome MIL, may she RIP.
I think Lucy and Abby are both really cute, if you love those names, choose them.

Naming is hard! My husband and I went back and forth with our son's name so long that he actually has some documents from the hospital that say baby boy on them! We kept going back and forth between Barrett and Hayden. We finally decided on Hayden. When I got pregnant with my daughter, my favorite girl names have always been Ava or Elle. I still love those names, but one day my husband said, "I like the name Hope." I gasped out loud and knew that was supposed to be her name for several reasons. 1) thought it sounded really cute with Hayden and 2) we had a higher chance that she may have Downs, but we had "hope" that she would be perfect. She is perfect and I just love her name!
Of the names you mentioned above, I love Elle, Grace (and Ella Grace together sounds very pretty) and Lucy. Good luck to you. Sooner or later you will decide on something that you will love!
HTH,
A.

Naming is hard!! For our daughter we actually chose two names and decided the "right" one based on what she looked like when she arrived.

Without knowing your last name and how it all would sound together it's harder for us to say.... I like Lyla, Elle, and Grace the most form the names you listed because I don't hear those names a lot. I know a couple of Abigails and Lucys.

In the end though, you pick the name that you love! There's always going to be people with the same names unless you go for a name that's really off the wall.

Good Luck!

Oh, and I agree that Marlee is my least favorite...

I love Abigail and Lucy. Grace and Elle are pretty too. All of those names are popular right now (at least in MN). Marlee and Lyla are not my favorites, and Caroline is very traditional, and pretty.

If I had to pick my most favorite, it would be Abigail.

My daughter would have been Abigail if I hadn't had a dog that I adopted with the same name :)

Every single one of those names are so beautiful and your daughter is going to be a lucky girl! My favorite one is Lyla, with Caroline and Elle coming in a close 2nd/3rd. A good point has been made that you might not be able to decide until you get a chance to actually hold your little girl in your arms, and that is OK too!

I like them ALL (which is a rare and wonderful thing!). Maybe when you SEE her it will be immediately apparent what her name is?

Congratulations, whoever she is, she will have a lovely name.

It is a hard decision, I obsessed as much as you did. In the last few weeks pf pregnancy, a new name that hadn't been on our finalized list popped back into our minds and stuck :)

Anyway, my favorite is Lucy - Love it! Also love Caroline and Lyla.
Marlee reminds me of a dog, sorry. Elle and Grace are super cute, but getting overly popular. Abby is very cute as well, very traditional.

Just a thought but if you name her Marlee lots of people will probably say "like the dog?" I get this a lot as my son is named Casper ("like the ghost", they ask) and it drives me nuts!!

All your options are pretty, but if you are looking for a reason to narrow it down, I'd say nix Abigail because it is very common right now. Elle is very close to Ella/Bella/Isabella, which are also super popular.

I personally favor names that are easy to spell, pronounce, and are distinctive but not weird. So, of your choices, I like Caroline, Grace, and Lucy the best.

Similar to what others have said--with both of mine (one of each now), they were both nameless for about 24 hours in the hospital. We had a short list of about 10 (I know sounds like a lot), but didn't name until we "met" them for a few reasons: 1) we found out sex ahead of time and still wanted to have a "surprise" for the family with the name. 2) other family members shared names prior to delivery and were met with some "backlash"--ie: why did you pick that, etc. i wanted to wait until after b/c I can't imagine someone saying to the baby/parents when they meet them "why did you name them that?!?" LOL. 3) we really wanted to pick something that suited each child. For example, i love the name madeline and it was my #1 going into delivery. But when we met her, it just didn't fit. She is and always will be my Olivia. Same thing with my son--I loved names like Elliott, but when we met my 9# 14 oz. happy boy, Zak fit much better.

I can tell you from preschool classes--Elle and Grace are VERY popular right now. Good luck with your choice! It is a very personal decision.

I think you have a great list of names, all are great! I saw some of the responses on Marlee reminding them of the dog, but I knew two Marlee's 20 years ago, way before that book/movie came out, so I wouldn't worry about that reference. My two faves are Lyla and Caroline.

I like Lyla, Caroline, Abigail and Lucy. All would go well with Grace as a middle name. Marlee is okay too and would go with Grace also. When you see the baby it will help you pick the name. Somehow they have to 'fit' the name.

Lyla Grace or Caroline Grace or Grace Caroline are beautiful names. I've heard Lucy and Abby a lot. However, I do like the sound of Lucy Abigail together. What I like about these names: Lyla, Caroline, Grace, Lucy, Abigail is they are truly lifetime names-you can call them that name when they are 3 or 93-beautiful!

Marlee - cute but young
Lyla - love this one still! Favorite
Caroline - 3rd favorite
Elle - 2nd favorite
Grace - better as a middle name but cute

Abigail (Abby) - too common right now
& Lucy - cute but young again

If the baby is not here yet, then I would suggest waiting until she is. I had a similar trouble with my oldest child, and it wasn't until she was several hours old and many people wanting to know the name, that I finally decided on the right one. I had to wait to see what she looked like to decide on the name that suited her the best. You may find you'll be able to relax a little easier and less stressed.
