Drink lots and lots and lots and did I say lots, of Cranberry Juice and water. Drink NOTHING else for about 3 days but water and Cranberry juice.
I have been where you are and next time when you first feel the beginnings of it start drinking Cranberry right away. You can also take a Cranberry pill each day which will help it from coming back again. I keep Cranberry juice in my frig all the time.

You need to go buy AZO cranberry pills and drink lots of cranberry juice. You can get them at Wal-Mart or anywhere. I get bladder infections all the time and that's what helps me! Good luck!

most say Doctor; I say THYME. The dried herb you can buy at any grocery store (CHEAP). Here's how it works for EVERY woman in my family: Take a teaspoon - teaspoon 1/2 (I use a lot b/c I reuse the same thyme for three cups of tea in one day) and put it in a coffee mug, pour hot water into the mug and let sit for 3/5 minutes, drain the thyme out and use that thyme to start another cup (it's pretty much just Thyme tea) while you're drinking the first cup. The trick is to FILL your bladder with thyme tea, it has natural ingredients in it that will literally EAT away at any bacteria in your bladder and it tastes good, too! Imagine what Lysol does to bacteria; that's what thyme naturally does for you body, just like that! It also helps support healthy lung function. I drink this all the time, it's good for you. If you have an infection, drink three cups for three days and the infection will be gone. Also, a lot of women mistake bladder infection for cysts on the ovaries; so if you're ovulating, that may be a possiblity. I was just diagnosed with IBS, same pain as you have, and my OB said, "welcome to you upper 20's, this is common." lovely! but THYME WORKS!! good luck!! and DON'T drink cranberry juice unless it's CONCENTRATE from the health food store; any sugar makes UTI/bladder infections worse and there's nothing but sugar in the store bought garbage!

A lot of people are saying cranberry juice, but unless you buy concentrate and pretty much drink the entire thing within an hour, it won't work. The sugar in store-bought makes it worse; only straight cranberry juice (no cocktails or blends) will make a difference.

A bladder infection would burn when you pee. Just hurting when you cough sounds more like a hernia to me. If it persists, I would go have it checked out.

one thing is drinking lots of canberry juice but ultimately you will have to go to the doc. Sorry I now if you are anything like me (I have been fighting some kind of flu that involves exhustion and a 102 fevor for about a week, and still haven't gone) you do everything you can to avoid that, but in this case you don't really have a choice, for one it could be some more serious, and anoth an antibotic is the only thing that will cure it.

You really need antibiotics for a bladder infection; left untreated it can and will spread to your kidneys, and that will require hospitalization. I have had SEVERAL bladder infections since my second pregnancy, and my 2nd child is almost 3. They don't clear up on their own, and can be very painful when it spreads. If you think you have a bladder infection, go to your doctor NOW!! If you have to wait, take AZO for the pain during urination and it helps with the urge to pee. Azo does not clear it up, it just helps with the symptoms. And drink LOTS of cranberry juice, and I do mean ALOT!!

Have you been to a doctor as yet? Sometimes a bladder infection needs an antibiotic, especially if you have a fever. Why, I do not know, but cranberry juice is good for a bladder infection even though you may also be on medication. Buy the authentic cranberry juice and not something that has only 10% juice. Bladder infections are very uncomfortable and inconvenient, but if it continues see your doctor.

Hi--usually with a bladder infection you'll have burning/discomfort with urination, frequent urination or blood in your urine--along with some lower abdominal or back pain. If you have a bladder infection, you need antibiotics to treat it. If your pain gets worse or is constant--you should really see your doctor.
Hooe you feel better =)

Unfortunately, I've had several over the years. What was always recommended (lots of unsweetened cranberry juice & water) did not work well for me, but dissolving a 1/2 tsp. of baking soda in a large glass of water 2-3 times a day has headed them off. However, if you truly have one, you need to have a culture done and get antibiotics. Bladder infections left untreated can be life-threatening.

Have you strained your stomach muscles doing anything in the past couple of days. That is what it sounds like to me.
When I had my bladder infections, they would start with less urine, and a pain at the end of the pee. Then, everytime I urinated, it would hurt terribly and my urethra would be very irritated.
My doc told me, no caffinated drinks of any kind, no citrus. I would start drinking a lot of water, gallons, and cranberry juice. Nothing spicy. I don't think it will go away by itself, and you may have to see the doc. Good luck.

Hi Ashley. In any case, you need to see a doctor. If it is a bladder infection, you probably have burning on urination and possibly feel a strain when you urinate; at this point, you need an antibiotic. If you don't treat a bladder infection, it will sooner or later, infect your kidneys. The latter is extremely serious. To help prevent future bladder infections: include cranberry juice and lots of water in your diet; use shower instead of tub for bathing. I hope all goes well for you. D. G

Cranberry juice cocktail and over the counter urinary pain medication. Look in the menstrual pain section. Also the cranberry pills are great. Very concentrated. I keep those on hand in case I cannot get to the store for juice. The cocktail juice is more concentrated than other cranberry juice mixtures. What helps is some component in the cranberry juice which stops the bacteria from adhering to the lining of the bladder. I have researched this. I am not sure it is necessary to go to a health food store. More expensive. Just do get the cocktail or pills.
Sometimes these measures will clear up a mild infection. but go ahead this morning and Call your doctor - gyn or general doctor. They may want to see you the first time. They will give you an antibiotic.
In the future drink plenty of water and wipe front to back. Our anatomy makes women prone to have these. I saw an over the counter diagnostic kit for bladder infections at Rite Aide. See a doctor the first time but you could use that later.

Definitely go to a doctor as soon as you can. You would have burning and general discomfort when urinating and probably feel like you have to go very often, but when you do will onoly be bale to go a little if it were a bladder infection. Cranberry Juice, lots of water, and Staying very dry and clean will help if it is a bladder infection. I hope things feel better soon!

Cranberry juice....Kroger's frozen section has little cans like the frozen orange juice which are less costly ( sometimes, or the kind mixed with raspberries or something else can be...).
Stay away from orange juice....it can make the urine to acid, and can be more of a problem....
If you don't have health insurance, call Matthew Walker Clinic, or General Hospital as see about getting a sample of urine tested....been there, there are great people there that know their stuff. Good luck.....and DRINK , flush the system out !!

You didn't say whether you had been to the doctor or not...if not, you need to go and give a urine sample..then the doctor will prescribe an antiobiotic if you do have a bladder infection...drink a lot of water and cranberry juice is also good for them...Another thing that will cause bladder infections is Bubble Baths....too much and all girls and women can get a very bad one...try and stay away from Bubble bath! If that is the only symptom you have, it sounds more to me like a cyst problem. I have had ovarian cyst several times and I have experienced the same pain in the same area. However, it does usually concentrate more to one side than the other. I would definately go to a doctor and get an utrasound. If a cyst ruptures on your ovary it can actually twist the tube around and "kill" the ovary it's attached to. Certainly nothing to messa around with. Good luck!

In most cases of bladder infections that I've came across you will burn while you urinate. If you are hurting in your lower belly area it sounds like you need go #2. Either case you need to drink plenty of water, juices(apple, cranberry. Try eating water melon, that helps keep you from dehydrating and help with #2. Hope you start feeling better soon.

No one's suggested this yet, so here goes . . . At GNC get an herbal diuretic called Goldenseal. There aren't good directions on the package as far as how much to take, but the idea is to drink water all day and take as many capsules as you need to make yourself pee a lot(for me it was 1, 3 or 4 times a day - for my mom it was 2, 4 times a day).
Like everyone else has said, if it is a bladder infection the best thing is antibiotics - especially if it's gone so far that you're seeing blood in your urine or when you wipe.
The last time I was having bladder infections on a regular basis, I was under a lot of stress. So after the first time when I did go to the Doc and get antibiotics, I would take the goldenseal capsules for as long as I felt symptoms and then for another 2-3 days afterwards. I also suggested this method to a friend who had previously had kidney stones and it helped her as well. Take care!
