I am in the process of weaning my 7 month old. I have started her on Enfamil Lipil. She loves it, but seems to be spitting up a lot. Any suggestions on a different formula would be great. Thanks

What can I do next?

A.,

I have been there with both of my babies. I would try a lactose free kind...it helped my babies some. My daughter spit up the least on walmarts organic brand...or walmarts regular milk based. Both of mine quit spitting up around 9 months..reguardless of formula brand.

Also, please research "dangers of soy formula" before you try soy. My son was on it for 5 months and I regret it.

She may have a milk allergy or intolerance. Try Soy and see if that helps.

Give her a week to adjust, but if she's still spitting up a lot, Good Start is easier to digest.

Hi A.,

I used Similac with Iron for my first son, but my second son seemed to have trouble with digesting it. So I gave him Enfamil Gentlease for several months then went back to plain Enfamil with Iron. I tried the Carnation Good Start, but it did not agree with him!

I wanted to try something easily digestible before going lactose free.

Good luck! C.

My son had REALLY bad acid reflux and the only thing that helped was Similac Advance or the Enfamil version of Soy.

Gentle Ease only helped w/his colic.

Good Luck and I hope this helps.

My daughter did not tolerate the Enfamil Lipil as well as she has Similac Advanced. The Nursery Nurses switched her within the first couple days of life. She was breastfed once my milk came in and once I was forced to wean her at five months I began feeding the Similac Advanced again. Similac Organic contributed to constipation and CVS brand of Ultra Beginnings caused horrible gas cramps.

Carnation brand formulas are alot easier on the stomach especially when the baby has been breastfed.

We loved Baby's Only Organic. We bought ours at Market Street in McKinney (cheapest there, actually), though they do have it online and at Whole Foods and such. They have a soy version as well. They have a "buy 24 cans, get 2 free" program, so make sure you do that to save money if you start using it.
