I am wondering if anyone out there has used Bark & Purr Retreat in Southlake? We are going out of town and will need to board our 2 dogs (who have not been boarded before). Before leaving them for 10 days, I am just wondering what people have to say...good or bad. Thanks!!!
A little more info: I don't think a petsitter would work for us b/c our dogs bark sometimes during the day and need to be brought in. We've had a couple complaints from neighbors. Since we will be gone for such a long time, I don't want to risk our dogs disturbing everyone for that period of time. Also, we live in Grapevine so we really are only interested in taking our dogs somewhere in either Grapevine or Southlake, maybe Colleyvile. Thanks for the responses! :)
No experience with bark & purr. We take our dogs to Houn' House ###-###-####) on Dozier Road in far north Carrollton. We have been taking our dogs there for 5 years and have always been extremely pleased with the care they get there. And it's very reasonably priced.
I second the in home pet sitter. Your animals are much likely to be less stresse if they're able to stay in their own environment. We used Bark & Purr once and it was awful. My poor pooch was really upset when we picked him up. Don't know what size your dogs are, but if they're small (25lbs and under) I recommend Fireplug Inn which is practically across the street from Bark & Purr. Fireplug is awesome...we use them every time we go out of town!
growing up...we used bark n purr for all our pets when my family went on vacation. We never had any problems there....we kept our dogs in one kennel since they are used to being with each other. the only thing i remember with my dog when we picked him up was that he was hoarse from all the barking......if you decide to go there hope you get the same experiences......have a good trip....let us know
Have u thought about a pet sitter to come to your home. With 2 dogs it wold be cheaper and my dogs r happier staying in their own home.
You might check out the PetSmart Hotel in Southlake. Also, we have used the Pet Mansion in Roanoke and have been very pleased with it.
When I was looking into boarding my dogs I took a tour of Bark & Purr & was not impressed by their facility. Our dogs are our babies, and I wanted a place that would take good care of them. I found Elite Suites in Southlake & absolutely love them. You can watch your dog on the internet, they can play with other dogs, they have TVs in their kennels & the place is spotless. We have boarded our dogs there for years, and have never had a problem.
The entire place is FILTHY!
I used to work there. It is a puppy mill disguised as a kennel. The owner is an animal hoarder disguised as a groomer. The turnover rate of staff is so high, because they are poorly trained and screamed at for doing or not doing things they had improper instruction for. Any tips you give the kennel staff go to the owner to buy cheap feed for her puppy mill dogs which never see the light of day, except to be walked on a leash. As soon as they poo they are returned to their cages.
