I am exploring my options for my daughters education. She will be starting 3rd grade in the Fall and is an exceptional student in public school. I need any information on home schooling such as web sites that I can research or any other info. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Is something going on with her school that you are not happy with? I think it is great to homeschool your childern if that is what she wants, but there are so many benefits from her going to school with other children. I use to teach 7th grade before leaving to stay at home with my two children and I don't feel like I am qualified to home school my children. If you are going to do it just remember it is a full time job so hopefully you are a stay at home mom and can devote a lot of time to research and teach.

Congrats on starting your home school journey. I also attend Sonlight and it is a wonderful environment for my kids. They are able to take classes that are out of my reach to teach and get to also spend time with other kids, interacting in a classroom setting, which is important, just not every day of the week! Their website is www.sonlightclasses.org and the Home school book fair is another good event to attend. On a note of caution, the book fair is HUGE and can be overwhelming. I would encourage you to go to several of the vendor booths and tell them that you are a new home schooler and need some advice. Sonlight Curriculum is a good one, as is ABeka. They will provide some different opinions that will help you to see some of the many options available to you. The nice thing is that you have the ability to customize your daughter's education based on her learning styles, interests and level of learning. Hope this helps and isn't too overwhelming. Just don't stress out about it-you'll do fine. You're more equipped than you realize.

God bless you!

Hi D., just a basic search, there is a ton of info out there. We are part of a homeschool co-op called sonlight, we meet in Wataga once a week and our children take enrichment classes, it is great and I love it!! There is als a homeschool book fair coming up in a couple of weeks in Arlington, there will be a ton of stuff to look at and buy, and some really great speakers. It is May 9th and 10th, I will be there!!

for the cirriculum you will need to get started.

They can help you get started and then look online for a local HS group to join. The Moms in the group will be a great resource. M.
