Anyone Else Eat Unbreakfasty Food at Breakfast Time?

Recently I've started embracing dinner-type food for breakfast. Nothing is off limits--this morning for breakfast I had venison stew. Yesterday I had a piece of spinach pie I made from a recipe I got on this website (can't remember who posted it but thanks). I also enjoy spaghetti, Chinese food, etc. for breakfast. My co-worker/friend is exactly the same way! Neither of us are into oatmeal, muffins, waffles, any of that. Are we the only two people in the world like this? Are there any other moms out there who like dinner for breakfast? My brother sure thought it was odd when we were all on vacation together!! Just a fun little question for a Friday.

What can I do next?

Makes me wonder what kind of food people around the world have for breakfast. American standard seems to be something sweet or something starch/carbs, usually too heavyand nauseating for me. In Japan breakfast is usually salad, small roasted fish, rice, miso soup. Much healthier for the amount of energy it produces.

The first thing I crave in the morning is what I had for dinner the night before! Completely reasonable.

This morning I had pizza...but I also had breakfast for dinner last night. I love all types of breakfast foods, but I don't always have to eat them in the morning, same with dinner type foods.
My SO is famous for heating up pastrami for a sandwhich at 6am. Makes the whole house smell.

A lot of breakfast foods are pretty sugary or high carb, which I am really not into. I'll definitely eat dinner food for breakfast -- pizza, spaghetti, mac & cheese, cheese toast and the like. More often than not though, because mornings are always so busy around here, I usually ended up eating a handful of raw nuts and dried apricots. This seems to keep my appetite in check until I am ready for lunch.

I love a big breakfast (eggs, pancakes, sausage, hashbrowns etc.) but we eat that every once in a blue moon because it can be so bad for you. I, too, love eating whatever looks good for breakfast. Pasta is pretty yummy and this morning I was considering a burger. I do love breakfast for dinner too :)

Nope!

I HATE breakfast for breakfast. Makes me feel nauseous and sleepy (not a great way to feel when trying to start my day). Dinner leftovers, however... or a toasty/melty sandwich is just purrrrrr-fect.

I DO like B-for-D, however. Still makes me sleepy, but not nauseous.

Food is food. We usually eat very heavy for breakfast but not necessarily breakfast food but we love breakfast food for dinner. Nothing like pancakes & waffles for dinner. Yummy. Hubby says he can't eat dinner food for breakfast but I question that. Isn't food for the stomach?

Any way, you are not alone. Enjoy.

I would much rather eat breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast. Most breakfast foods are loaded with carbs and sugar and I hate filling up on those early in the day!
I used to love eating grilled ham, cheese and tomato for breakfast. Now that I'm a vegetarian, I just leave out the ham, but it's a great breakfast food!

I am not a breakfast food person at all... I do not eat eggs at all. Do not enjoy the typical breakfast foods.

You can find me having a bowl of pasta, salad, leftover lasagna, chinese, you name it.

Yum, spinach pie :)

I tend to eat leftovers for breakfast just because they're there, no one else eats them, and they're super easy to fix.

But then again, I love making breakfast for dinner :)

I always wondered who set the rule of what foods are supposed to be for certain meals. I think so long as your eating something and over the day you get your "squares", who cares when you eat them. I eat what looks good whenever :)

S.,
I havent read all the replies yet, but you are NOT alone!
Leftovers and other dinner-y type foods are GREAT for breakfast.
Espcially since adults need what like 5 servings of veggies a day and kids need 2 and a half cups. That way you're getting plenty of veggies starting the day off right. if you think about common breakfast food, it's all very carb heavy. Like today we had strawberries, chick wings(protein takes longer to digest and makes you feel fuller longer), and leftover homemade fried rice(some carbs and veggies).

I always want to eat something un-breakfasty for breakfast but can't bring myself around to doing it! You would think I could too, 'cuz I'm pregnant, but I can't! Guess I'll give it a try now that I see alot of people do it! The stomach doesn't know what time it is anyway! Lol ;)

Nope- but I love Breakfast foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) My parents think it is quite odd that I am comfy eating waffles/pancakes, eggs and cocoa, oatmeal, cream of wheat, or cereal any time of day but I generally eat whatever I want if I don't have leftovers to eat. My hubby and I generally eat after the kids go to bed so sometimes I am just honestly too tired or lazy to cook up a real meal!

I don't like sweet things for breakfast so much - so all those favorites of pancakes, waffles, cinnamon buns, scones, are not really all that thrilling to me. I do love leftover pizza though.

I used to before I had kids. I would have leftovers from dinner mostly. My husband and I would go out to dinner every Friday and I would get insanely huge portions so I would have leftovers and I would eat that for breakfast :) I used to be able to eat anything and not gain a pound..before I had kids...now I have cereal or a piece of toast and coffee :(

As we say around our house: Cold Pizza - Breakfast of Champions! Seriously though, I tend to need some protein to start my day and eggs/bacon get old after awhile so dinner leftovers, peanut butter sandwiches and lunch meat are frequently my breakfast.

My stepkids' favorite thing is Stouffer's mac and cheese for breakfast. I thought it was a little odd, but it's quick and warm and they can heat it while they get ready for school.

I will often eat random things for "brunch" (I don't tend to eat first thing) myself. I've even heard of someone who lost weight by reversing her meals - the big one in the AM (dinner) and the smallest (breakfast) at night/afternoon.

I've liked eating "regular" food for breakfast since I was a little kid. My parents never had an issue with it as long as I ate. Now, as an adult, what I choose for breakfast depends on my mood. The other day I had a bowl of chili!

I do not do this, but my boss at my last job used to eat Lean Cuisines for breakfast every day. I asked her one morning how she did it & she just said that your stomach doesn't know what time of day it is! It makes sense to me, but I just find that I'm not much of a breakfast person anyway, so if I'm going to eat it'll have to be something that appeals to me.

I had leftover frito pie for breakfast! Leftover pizza, burox, pretty much anything EXCEPT breakfast foods. There have been times that I have made my husband go to McDonalds twice, once at 1029 so he can still order breakfast (Bleech!) and go around and get right back in line so I can have a burger! I wonder what they think of me at Sonic when I order a grilled chicken wrap at 0730!

I do all the time, however I usually eat a regular breakfast of egg whites, oatmeal and fruit. But when I'm on the run, the leftovers do just fine. Just the other day I had my leftover dinner for breakfast and it was delicious. I have to say I love leftovers. I am a certified sports nutritionist and I have to say, that most people don't realize how good a meal you can make with leftovers at any time of the day. Leftovers make great snacks too. So hats off to you for first of all, eating breakfast and 2nd of all, being creative and stepping out of the box for your meals. You guys rock.

My youngest son doesn't like traditional breakfast food, so we make extra at dinner time and he eats leftover chicken, steak, whatever, for breakfast. Food is food, no matter what time of day it is!

A typical breakfast (our family meal of the day) looks like this: Mom: eggs and bagel, Dad: oatmeal, Son #1: leftover meat dumplings and milk, Son #2: leftover chicken & milk. As long as we all get our shot of protein, we're good to go!

Embrace your eccentricities!

At our house, there's no such thing as breakfast food or dinner food - there's just food.

If we want corn dogs at 6 am, then corn dogs are breakfast.

If we want grits at 6 pm, then grits are dinner.

i'm not a big fan of breakfast either. if we go out for breakfast, it has to be a place that serves lunhc early. This morning I went for a run and by the time I got home and was ready to eat it was 10am. So I thought, missed breakfast, might as well have lunch. Had a ham & cheese sandwich. I could eat sandwiches breakfast lunch and dinner. My husband and kids love breakfast and almost every weekend have panckaes, which have to be my least favorite food.
