Am I About to Miscarry?

Hello, Ladies. A few days ago I found out I was pregnant. It's a planned pregnancy and I can't tell you just how excited I was. However I went to my OBGN and found out I was 5 weeks along, not 6 as I was expecting (I had an ultrosound, she measured an egg sack and all). According to my first day of the last period it also HAS to be 6. My doctor said that eyther I concieved a week later (which is possible as I had my IUD removed not long ago and could have ovulated a week later) or my pregnancy in not progressing which can be a sign of a miscarriage. Plus to that I have no symptoms of pregnancy, I feel great, is that normal or does it indicate low hormonal level which, I know, can also be a sign of an early miscarriage? Maybe I sound silly with all my worries, but I really need to hear from somebody, I'm almost a nervous wreck at this point. Thanx. E.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi, moms. Thank you all so much for the time you took to write your responses.
As it turned out, I warried too much. I had blod work done and my hormonal level was OK and last Friday I saw my bean-shaped baby at the sonogram, it was a true release.
Thank you again for your support. E.

I have 4 kid and 6 pregnancies... I have always just known I was pregnant at around 5 weeks with no symptoms, except for my #4 baby at which it dawned on me I should have had a period 2 weeks ago...surely not... and then a oh yea...wow (I found out I was pregnant with #4 when #3 was 5 months old)

Anyway, some women don't really realize they are even pregnant until they are 2 -3 weeks late and lots don't really have symptoms til more in their 2nd trimester. I learned from all 4 of my kids that measurements from sonograms aren't always on key either.

Stress is really bad for a pregnancy. It can even make your baby stressed out. Don't worry too much. Did you doctor do blood work? That would answer your questions on hormone levels.

Just take each day as it comes. I miscarried at 10 weeks and at 7 weeks...both were hard, but there must have been a reason. I wouldn't tell many people, and as long as you don't have any spotting or anything more than that, try to be excited. Babies tend to grow how they want despite dates and measurements!

I hope everything workds out.. good luck...

Try to relax. You could easily have ovulated later than you thought or even had the egg implant later rather sooner. There are so many factors and unless you were charting there's no way to know EXACTLY how far along you are (and even then, it could be off by days). And no symptoms mean nothing. Some women are sick and show symptoms from the minute of implantation and some never have any real, standout, scream at you symptoms.

I actually charted, knew when I ovulated, knew about when implantation occurred and the baby measured a week ahead of LMP and 4 days ahead of the ovulation calc and even the doc's measurement has a +/- of a few days.

Hang in there! Big hugs to you!!

The worst thing you can do is stress yourself out. What is meant to be will be and so relax. Take care of yourself and gets lots of rest and a good diet, lots of fruits and veggies and folic acid (that's what the baby needs the most while forming a new brain and spine)

I had a baby via IVF, so we knew EXACTLY, to the minute, when that baby was made and she always measured "off" by a few days and even weeks as the pregnancy progressed.

You don't actually know for sure the date you ovulated unless you've been tracking it, but since you've only just had your IUD out, I assume you haven't been.

Relax, momma! The best thing you can do for you and your pregnancy is to remain as stress-free as possible.

Hi E.!

I am now 14 weeks pregnant and when I found out the Dr. figured I was 6 weeks along. I knew otherwise, I never ovulate when I am supposed to, so when they did the sonogram they said I was only 4 weeks along. Which really scared me, BUT because they measured the sack and not the baby, it turned out it was not acurate. My second sono showed I was a full week and 3 days further along than they thought. So, PLEASE do not stress yourself out, you could very well be further along, but because it is still so early they can not acuratley measure the baby yet. Relax and I am sure in a couple weeks the sono will show a healthy baby!! Keep your head up and think positively!!:)

Relax, try not to stress. I know that is easier said than done. I had no symptoms with my pregnancies either. No morning sickness/cramping...nothing at all the entire pregnancy. So don't base things on that.

Congrats and try to relax. Please keep us updated, as we will be praying for you.

I don't think doctors can really tell a week or two by measuring the egg sack. I was told the same exact thing with my second born and he ended up coming a week before the due date. They also thought both of my kids would be small (since I wasn't showing much and hadn't gained much weight--- I'm very tall). They both ended up being birthed at 8 lbs 10 oz... nothing small about that!

Keep the positive thoughts... I'm sure everything is going to be just super!

E.,

I would try to be patient...I know it is hard, but think positively and just kind of go with the flow for now. There is no reason to freak out yet...when I was pregnant, I didn't really have any symptoms either, other than slightly tender breasts. No nausea, no nothing and my pregnancy was like that the whole way through! I felt great and worked up until three days before I delivered without missing a day. The ultrasounds are never exact...and often are off by a few days and up to a week, it's not an exact science. Since there could be several reasons for the date issues, I would try to relax and enjoy things. Getting stressed out, etc is certainly not going to help the baby. Good Luck!!!!

Every one of my 3 children measured off by 2 weeks. And I knew like clock work when I ovulated, and would have conceived. But every time they changed my due date. With our 7 month old, she didn't even show up when she should have. I went in for my annual, hadn't had a period so they started looking around. They were worried about other things, did a blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant before proceeding with other testing. Well, I was! But since the baby could not be seen and my progesterone was low they thought I may have been losing the baby. 3 days later, there she was, and 2 weeks later my hormones were in check. So, you just never truly know. Best of luck!!!

This exact thing happened to me with my second baby. My doctor told me not to start telling people I was pregnant because the sac was smaller than expected, etc. He had me so worried that my husband called the next week and asked for another ultrasound--everything seemed fine then--still a week behind though. My first blood test did reveal some hormone (progesterone, I think) was low, so I had to go to a special pharmacy where they could "make" this hormone and took it (well, inserted it) for about 4 weeks. Everything turned out fine. I have a healthy almost 4 year old boy now. As far as pregnancy symptoms....I never felt any with either of my boys early in the pregnancy---so maybe it's a boy....
