We would like to have our heating/air ducts cleaned. Can anyone recommend a company/person that they were satisfied with?
Finally had our ducts cleaned! I used an online service called ServiceMagic (www.servicemagic.com) to select 3 prescreened Contractors in the Chicagoland area, close to my home. You enter in your zip code and then they send you three companies via email, which call you pretty much the same day to see what your need is. I selected a company called B. F.J. Cleaning Services (Mr. Babacar Fall). Out of the three I spoke to, he was the most enthusiastic, negotiated on the price and did an excellent job. Hey there, I got your email, and my Uncle actually owns Lakewood Heating and Cooling. I called him with your question, and he says he particularly doesnt believe in duct cleaning. He says its normally not needed, unless the house is really really old, or if there are specific rare allergan reasons. He said there should be enough dust in your duct work as if you hadnt dusted your house in a month. If its work you may have a different problem. He doesnt have a machine to clean the duct work because of his opinions of its an unneccassary job. I believe they may possibly go out to the NW side, pending on where its located. Anyways, if you still feel its necessary to get it cleaned, he does have places that he can recommend, so give him a call, and maybe he can diagnose things better. Hes very honest about things. Hes not in the job to scam people or rip people off, and only does whats needed not anything thats extra that others may try to pull off. Hope that helps!
