My sister adopted a baby and the adoption is going to be finalized next month. We want to do something special to celebrate this wonderful occasion. We're currently thinking of a dinner with family. Any ideas to help make this day more special?

What can I do next?

I agree - take lots of pictures with family members. Perhaps you can have everyone write their thoughts and feelings in letters (interview the ones who can't write) so the baby will have personalized memories of the people he/she will be having a relationship with as he/she grows up.

Congrats to your sister and your new nephew/neice!

Get her a portrait session so mom and baby can be captured. A dinner and a few gifts with family sounds wonderful.

I love the photo shoot ideas.
I was adopted when I was 5 years old. My adoptive parents gave me a single red rose. I carry a picture of my parents and I standing outside the courthouse that day with the rose to this day. This is by far my favorite picture and most prized possession. The smallest gestures are often the longest lasting.
Congratulations to you all.

Congratulations to all of you!
Do a beautiful dinner and have fun outdoor activities for your children.. Maybe hire a a photographer to come and take pictures of the new family addition and all of you together...

Be sure to put up a big banner welcoming the little one..

I just got back from JoAnn fabrics and saw the neatest thing.. For people like me who do not sew.. It is a ready made quilt, with blank squares that people can sign or decorate, with enclosed colors!

It looked very simple, you just need the quilt set, masking tape and an iron. You all could each sign or decorate a square or each family could decorate a square if you have a really large family.

The quilt set was $49. but next weekend they are going to have a huge sale.

They have them for babies, anniversaries, birthdays.. all kinds of events.
