Please help I have a 5 year old daughter who is very active and out going, but there aren't many things she can do around my area. I am seeking info about surrounding activities anyone may know about that a 5 year girl would like to do. Something that is a fun, meeting friends, learning activity environment. Oh by the way we leave in the college park area, but we are close to Fayetteville, Riverdale, Union City, Fairburn, and the Camp Creek area.

What can I do next?

Hi P.!

My daughter is alot younger, but I have already begun to research summer activites for her. This is what I have found...

Dance in Fayetteville, Gymsouth in fayetteville has some awesome classes. Girlscouts, an also check with the rec dept in your county to check with the t-ball for the summer. Deadlines are approaching quickly! Please let me know if you need any other help. I will be glad to assist you with finding things to do! I seem to have that problem alot!

Gosh, I have to say join or start a MOMS Club. There is no chapter in the College Park area yet, (I belonged to a Philadelphia-area MOMS CLUB and just moved to unincorporated South Fulton County, where my mailing address is College Park, so I've checked for a chapter here). But you'll get to join a playgroup, go on outings with other moms and their kids, attend Moms Night Out (w/o the kids) and HOOT and HOWLS (Husband Out Of Town, Husbands Out Working Late), and take advantage of opportunities to help others (name a service project you'd like to tackle). I've asked about starting a chapter, and await MOMS Clubs' response!

p.s. A fellow MOMS Club Lansdale member raved about the Fayetteville chapter, since you said you aren't far from there.
p.p.s. And if you sign up for a Gymboree class, your daughter will see the same children weekly and make pre-school friends!

There is a new "Little Gym" that just opened on Hwy 92 near the new Publix store and there is a new Tae Kwon Do school at Camp Creek that may be of interest.

Hi, P.! I live in College Park and I highly recommend soccer and/or gymnastics. My daughter participated in soccer at Welcome All Park and she now is in gymnastics at Conley recreation center in downtown college park. the sessions are very reasonable ($10 per) and they are very good. Also, check out Fulton county arts council. they have a class schedule online with 3 southside locations. Another thing to consider is girl scouts. my son is in boy scouts and loves it but since my daughter doesn't participate, I can't give more insight on that. I wish you the best. I have looked high and low for things for my children and I will admit most of the programs are concentrated in N. Fulton and Dekalb county.

Is there a community pool or neighborhood group you can join? You may also benefit from meeting other moms. If you're just looking for a destination, I'd seek out a community garden where you can visit weekly to see what new plants and veggies are growing -- maybe you could grow something together with your daughter.
