my 7 month old does not bear his weight when we put him in standing position. Is this normal? His sister seemed to bear her own weight at 1 month old so i am unsure if this is still okay. He is not crawling yet, but he creeps everywhere and is making a ton of progress in crawling. his necka nd tummy are very strong. when we stand him up he if he puts his feet down he is always on his tippy toes. Do you know what i can do to help him learn to stand to prepare hm for walking.

Do NOT be in a hurry to have him walk. First of all girls develop faster than boys, but more importantly, it is ESSENTIAL that they spend time in each phase. The longer they spend in each phase the smarter they will be and the more physically developed they will be. Just be patient and encourage him to crawl and not to walk or stand yet.

letting him crawl for as long as possible is one of the best things you can do for him! it actually helps the muscles in his hands develop. if he is not using his hands i would encourage that rather than the standing. most children walk around 12 months and it is not considered a delay until they are 18 months believe it or not.

standing on toes is not a problem unless he is flapping, screaming -more than normal, not making eye contact, tummy troubles, not liking being touched, total over reaction to new people- not just normal stranger anxiety, not pointing or not using sounds. you can look up other signs on the webb if your concerned. my son is mildly autistic we found out when he was 3 but he was just starting to roll over at the age your son is. It is a good thing to look into if you have a gut feeling but the fact he is moving so much already & he is still so young i would not be too concerned.

I would not worry about it at all. The fact that he is moving around and has a strong neck and tummy are great signs. Many kids don't like to be in a standing position at his age.

If you're really worried about, I would get an exersaucer or a jumperoo - something that supports him in a standing position and allows him to build his leg muscles more.

If, when he does start walking, he continues to stay on his toes, you should definitely talk to the doctor, as that is a problem that would need correcting. But at 7 months, I don't think you need to worry.

thats normal. not all babies develope the same. my daughter was cruising at 6 months and crawling at 4 1/2. my nephews werent crawling until 9 months and didnt walk until about 11. just give him time. maybe get an exersaucer for him to sit and bounce in. i used one for my daughter and she loved it :)
