6 Month Old W/ Ringworm

Ringworm is a very common fungus that spreads easily and is contagious before it even shows up on a person or an animal. You have no way of knowing if he got it through the daycare, and it could be spread at any daycare. You could just as easily have brought it home from work.

I remember having this as a child, along with my sister. We put cream on the spots for awhile and it went away.

There's really no telling where he picked up the ringworm. Sandboxes are notorious for ringworm--and with all the rain we've been getting in the midwest, mixed with the heat, it's a prime breeding ground. Then once he scratches it, he can easily spread it to other locations of his body. Your dog could have brought it in from the lawn. You just never know.

Throw some athlete's foot cream on the spots (after washing & drying) twice a day and it should clear up in a week.

Of course, have the pedi check out the first time, just to make sure your diagnosis is correct. But ringworm is pretty common and low threat.

My daughter had a ring worm. It appeared as sort of a dry, red patch with a line going around it, probably about the size of my thumbnail. I wouldn't have considered hers bumpy. We did have a dog at that time and we have carpeting in our house. I asked the pediatrician how she could have gotten it. He said that there are ring worm spores everythere and there's no way to know for sure, but it's pretty easy to contract.

my daughter used to get this a lot when she was in ju jitsu. I would just have to put some lotramin cream on it for about 2-3 weeks 3 times a day and it would go away.

Poor little guy! He is too young to have to deal with this, so I would get him out of there, but first take him to his pediatrician right away to make sure it doesn't get worse.

Yeah there is no telling where she really got it. the dirt outside in your own yard is the most common place. my son first one was when his was 9 and he has been battling them since. he is 15 now. my husband gets them sometimes too. but my 2 daughters and i dont get them. everyone told me the cat. we have had the cat since my son was born. so idk. I would not worry about the daycare. but i would be proactive to get rid of it. they are boogers to get rid of.

If you feel for sure that it is a ringworm, you need to contact her childcare facility. Most will not let her come back for a certain period of time since ringworms are contagious. She either pick it up from another child or an animal...cats are more of a culperate than a dog. But for sure call the center and use inti-fungal lotion until it is gone. Good luck and God Bless.
