I have an appointment on Friday morning to have my 6 month old's picture taken. I have to bring all of my own prop's. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

What can I do next?

I take my kiddos to the Sears Portrait Studio and I never have to bring my own props. How nerve wracking on top of selecting the "perfect" outfit. IF you are going to a "pro" studio (unlike Sears or JCPenney) and the photographer has indeed asked you bring your own props, I would keep it very simple. Honestly, the main subject is your child and the "prop" shouldn't be the focus of the final print. Perhaps a small teddy bear, a small rubber duck, soft blanket. Too many "props" can be so distracting for a baby and then they become more interested in the toy than to look at the camera. And IF this is a professional photographer, I'm wondering why he/she doesn't have props for you to choose from anyway.

Anything that has meaning to you and your family would serve wonderfully as a prop.If she has a favorite stuffed animal that you think she'd remember fondly when she's older, that would be sweet. Also, any blankets made by grandma, or special gifts from relatives she's received. I'm a mushy, gushy, nostalgic type of mother, so whatever you can forsee her holding comforting memories of when she's older is what I'd bring.

Keep it simple. You want the focus to be on your child. A favorite toy or two to distract and maybe a ball and/or stuffed animal or doll that can be in the picture.

Just take a few things that you feel are endering.....Pick out the outfit you want. Load your car the night before with the props you want to use. First and foremost call your studio's location and ask what they have as far as props go. if you don't like what they have available take your own....a teddy bear, toy phone, firetruck, bunny rabbit, a colorful ball, mickey mouse etc....You don't want to overwhelm the baby or they'll be too preoccupied with the props and wont take the photo..Good luck....

Are you sure you have to bring all the props, or is it just extra ones you want to be used? I've never heard of a studio asking you to bring all of them, unless of course maybe you're having a private person do it, then maybe but any one I'm paying money to, I'd want to supply the props!

Anyway, I would suggest a boppy and a blanket to cover it. This way if your baby is having trouble sitting it can help support him or he can lay over it on his tummy. Other than that I wouldn't really worry about much else unless you have a stuffed animal or something he really likes.
