Hey moms!

So I have a quick question, my baby just turned 6 months and she usually takes two naps a day. Each lasting about 1 hour to 2 hours. Anyway, the last 5 or so days her morning nap has only been about 30-45 min. Her afternoon nap is 2 hours. Is this enough sleep during thr day?? Also, at night she does sleeps about 11 hours. Thanks!!

It is fine. I have three kids and none of them were great nappers at that age. My 3rd is 6 months old too. She takes just one 1 hour nap a day and sometimes a shorter catnap between 5-30 minutes. She typically sleeps between 10-12 hours at night. It will change again as they get older and hit developmental spurts.

she sounds fine.
At this age, they do take 2 naps a day.
My son however was taking 3 naps.... until about 1 year old.
Then 2 naps from 1-2 years old.
Then now he is 3.5 years old and he takes, 1 nap a day. And that was from when he was about 3 years old.
His naps are 2 hours at the least.
He sleeps well and fine at night.

Keep in mind, that 6 months old is a growth-spurt time... and intake increases. It is ALSO a time where the hit many milestones and/or change a lot developmentally and this can tweak their sleep. But in these cases, it is a phase.

Keep to a nap routine... consistency is key.

After waking, a baby usually gets tired after about 2-3 hours of being "awake." And for a baby, even a bath is an activity.

all the best,
Susan

At 6-months of age most babies need about 14 1/4 hours of sleep. Sounds like your baby is right up there.

Like SH below, my kids took 3 naps until about 9 months old, 2 naps until about 15 months old and then one nap a day until age 4. As long as your baby is happy and healthy and getting close to the recommendation, she'll be fine.

There's a great chart on sleep amounts here: http://www.babycenter.com/0_how-much-sleep-does-your-chil...

That's about the age many kids go to one LONG nap. Try to keep her up in the a.m. and put her down after lunch for about 3-4hrs.
