3 Day Sleep Solution?? Not Working for Us

We purchased the 3 Day Sleep Solution with HIGH hopes of it working. It has improved a few things, no pacifier, and soothing to sleep at night. the guarantee of better naps and sleeping until 6am however are a bust. My baby (6 months old) still wakes up EVERY morning no matter what I do at 4:30am. I have followed the nap schedule they suggest and the methods. I even let her stay in her crib and cry for an hour every morning as suggested. Of course I check and make sure she is fine. I am not sure what to do to get her to sleep any later! Have you tried this program? Did you have to modify it? I am confused and tired.

What can I do next?

I don't have much of a story behind it, except that most of my friends with babies put them to bed at 7:30ish...so I moved my little ones bed time from 10 to 7:30 and now she sleeps LONGER!! Now, she sleeps from 7:30pm - 7am straight! Before, it was 10pm-3am(for about 20 minutes)-then back to sleep until 5am. Good luck!

What time does she go to bed at night? I know it sounds like it would do the opposite, but when we started putting our 5 mo old twins down earlier (6:00-6:30) at the recommendation of a few pediatricians, they started sleeping later (6:30-7:00ish). We used to put them down around 9:00-10:00 and they would ALWAYS wake up at 4:00-5:00 am. It might be worth a try. Good luck. Glad the book helped with a few things!

I am sorry to hear of your problem and understand. My 6 yr old still does not sleep through the night and is up when the sun comes up. It sounds like part of the baby's routine to wake that early. I used to turn on some nice classical music or soothing music to let her relax a bit, but me personally can not stand the sound of a cryig baby. I know this is not much of a solution. But baby's do seem to form their own sleep patterns and sometimes we just need to tweak the little things. Best of luck to you..

I agree with the early to bed advice you've gotten. If your baby is waking up because she's hunger, then try doing a dream-feed before you go to bed. Don't wake her up but feed her so that she's got more in her tummy and may sleep longer. We also used white noise to keep my kids from being awakened by random noises. You need to do something to interrupt the habit of waking that early. Good luck!

I agree with putting the baby down earlier. I know it seems counter-intuitive but it worked for me and my twins. My suggestion is to put them down at the very latest of 7 pm-- but earlier would probably work a little better. I don't know much about he 3-day sleep solution but I bought the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child-- and it worked wonders. It is rigid and takes commitment-- but it worked great. Good luck.

I am not familiar with the 3 Day Sleep Solution. But I agree with the other posting. I love the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. It is written by a doctor and explains the biology behind each age group and what the average sleep patterns are. He will give you percentages. For example, (numbers not accurate) 80% of kids this age take 2 naps, 17% take 1 and 3% take 3 naps. He gives you advice and tatics. But he does understand that each situation is different. He mentions do what you can depending on your "resources" and he even weighs the pros and cons of letting them cry it out. I really liked it over other sleep training books because he doesn't say there's only one way to do it. He tells you all sides and the benefits and leaves you to choose. But the theme is the same, sleep begets sleep so an early bedtime is good. Whether I my daughter goes to sleep at 7:30 or 9:30 she wakes up at 5:30am like clock work.

I did the 3 day sleep solution and actually paid and had Davis Ehler come out to my house. I love this technique becasue I had a son who woke up every hour after 11pm at 7 months old. His naps were only 45 min at the most. I was pulling my hair out. After using 3 day sleep solution my son is now 17 months old and has been sleeping 14 hours a night straight and taking a 2-3 hour nap during the day. We did do some modifying. I did reintroduce a bottle to my son and give him one to go to sleep in his crib and sometimes he wakes up after 12 hours of sleep and I give him another one and he goes back. I would suggest feeding your daughter at 4:30 and putting her back to bed. It will fall into place and I do know it took some days of crying out and some days that surprised me. Those days where your daughter will sleep like a champ are to come but it takes time. You kind of figure out some of it on your own but I do love 3 Day and would pay for it for any of my girlfriends.
