My son is 5 and totally in love with NASCAR and anything auto racing-related! Does anyone know of any 2013 summer camps related to either Go-Karting or auto racing?

I found one such summer camp (Andretti in Roswell, Ga.) but the minimum age requirement was 8... :-(

Preferable locations: Cobb County, Ga. ...but, willing to travel 25 miles outside metro Atlanta.

Thank you SO much!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have been researching "day camps" where it is something like a "9am-12pm" type of schedule for a preschool-aged child - WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD SEND A 5 YEAR OLD AWAY TO A CAMP LONGER THAN THAT??! DEFINITELY NOT ME! :-)

I merely wanted to find activities for my child so that he doesn't get bored over the summer. He goes to Pre-K so he is used to that kind of schedule of learning & activities.

When we take him Go-Karting, either my husband or I drive the kart, so I obviously would not expect my son to be driving the kart himself at a camp...or anywhere else at this point in his life!

The topic of "summer camps" is very new to me so I guess I left out a lot of information in my original question. Thanks for your answers. I appreciate it.

Welcome to mamapedia!

I'm sorry - but I personally think that 5 years old is a tad young for a auto racing or Go-Kart Summer camp.

I believe at that age, he would be overwhelmed and end up having a meltdown because he would just be too excited...

I thi k five is too you g for a camp like that. Usually they start around age 8 to 10. He might have to settle for plain old day camp!

He's not old enough. We have been to these tracks and they have very strict age requirements, for a good reason, SAFETY.
Also, isn't he a little young to send away to ANY camp? The youngest I have ever heard of is 7 or 8, summer after second grade.
If he's into go karting, have his dad take him there for fun, or if there's no dad, YOU can take him. But an ADULT needs to drive, those karts are not built to be driven solo by a five year old!
