1 Year Old Birthday Party - Costa Mesa,CA

I am planning my sons 1st birthday party. We are wanting to do it at a local park and we think we will have about 85 adults and 35 kids of all ages. I am hoping that someone out there has advice on food. I was thinking of possible a food cart of some sort. I don't want to worry about food and have a vendor there would aliviate my worry. Does anyone have any recommendations of any taco carts or hot dog stands that they have used? Or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi D.. Congrats on the 1st birthday party!!! My daughter turned 1 last July and we had a similar sized party at the park as well. I got pizzas and chicken. A few family members volunteered to bring a few sides and it worked out perfect.

Hi D.. First of all CONGRATS on making it thru your 1st year! That is a big accomplishment!! I have an excellent recommendation for a "Taco Guy" (which is what we always call him when he comes to our parties). His name is Cedric and his company is called Tres Reyes tacos. We have used him on numerous occasions, and every time he comes he books at least a party or two from our party. He is AMAZING! What you get is fresh a choice of 3 meats: carne asada, carnitas, chicken, or beef. He brings beans, rice and condiments as well in a separate cart. He will heat up the tortillas and prepare each taco to order and plate the sides as well. (What you won't get is cheese, chips or guacamole.) For 50 people we pay $380 out the door. Not sure what he charges for a larger # of people, but I can tell you that whatever you do, be sure to buy some "to go" containers as there is always more than enough food. This is the real deal, and I grew up in Mexico eating off the carts in the street, which in my opinion is the best taste of local culture!

Cedric the "Taco Guy" ###-###-####. Tell him E. from the twins club sent you!! You won't be sorry!

Hi D.,
How exciting, the first year. I am going to be honest, I wanted to enjoy the party and save cash. So, I bought croissants, cold meats and cheese from Costco and I had make your own sandwich bar. Of course, I had the condiments to go with it along with salads and fruit. It was easy to set up and I assigned two of my sisters to take care of the refills. Everyone semed happy and with a full tummy.
Good luck,
ceci

I have done mexican food and there are a lot of caterers out there that do mexican food. I, personally, have used and been happy with Xenia's Catering. Their phone number is ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. It's been several years since I've used them so I don't know their current situation. They bring an extra large grill and cook carne asada and chicken and veggies. They serve them in corn tortillas for soft tacos. They provide rice, beans, and all the condiments to go along with soft tacos. Their prices are very reasonable.

You might also consider checking with the city whose park you plan to use. I live in Long Beach and they have very strict restrictions on who you can use to cater. There is a whole list they have who've been pre-approved. But, I've seen numerous vendors on their website that would serve your needs. You might check that out as well.

Good luck and have lots of fun. One is a fun milestone!
