8 Year Old Son Does Not Want to Sleep in His Own Bed

I have an 8 year old son does not want to sleep in his own bed? For the longest time he has slept with me. When he was just a newborn he had very bad Jaundice and the hospital sent him home with lights after 10 days. I put the light on the floor and I slept next to him. As a toddler when he got his big boy bed I slept with him or on the couch. At this time there where problems at home with his Dad. Once we moved out and got our own place.
