I noticed earlier that my 22 month old had a lump (about the size of a pea--maybe a bit smaller) on her throat. It would be in the same spot that boys have their adams apple. I only notice it when she has her head back. When I went to feel it, it feels like a little ball just under the skin on top of her trachea. Any thoughts/suggestions?? She's my first born so I don't know if this is normal or not?!?!?!
We took my daughter to a ear/nose/throat specialist & was told it was a cyst that will just continue to grow. We are having it removed on June 1st. Please pray for my family during this time. Thank you.
My son has a similar bump on the side of his neck. I was told it wasn't anything to worry about unless it got bigger, turned red or bothered him. I still ask about it when I have him at the doctor just to be on the safe side. He's had it since he was a baby with no problems. He's 8 now.
I would ask her pediatrician about it. At the very least, it will give you peace of mind. It could be a thyroid issue. In January I had a cyst removed from my neck, so I'm pretty jumpy about neck things still.
I would take her to the doctor, as a precaution. Since it is not normal, it's good to get it checked out. It may be nothing, but you'll feel better, and if it is something and you let it go, you'll feel terrible. A mom's first job is to protect the kids. Good luck.
You definately want to get that checked out. It's okay to ask questions and have things looked at that you aren't sure about. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter myself, and I'm sure I have driven doctors crazy with how much I have things checked, but my daughter is in good health. Be persistant if you have a feeling that something's not right. I was told I was overreacting when I noticed her heart wasn't beating at a normal rhythm, but I was insistant about it when no one would listen, and it turned out she had a heart murmur. My advice is get it looked at.
I would go see a chiropractor. I am not sure how big it is -- IT could be a goiter. I would see a good chiropractor first (but that is just me). Then I would see a doctor.
After that I would highly recommend getting your little ones on Juice Plus, as well as yourself.
I would call her pediatrician. That's what they're there for. In my opinion, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Especially for something like that.
my daughter has a similar lump like that on her head near her ear. i had her ped look at it and he said it was a lymph node and that they were pretty common like that. he said that as she gets bigger, it will either stay the same or even shrink. he said as long as it doesn't get any bigger or start to bother her, then it's nothing to worry about...her hair covers it anyway. so it could be the same thing with your daughter, but i'd have her ped look at it just to be on the safe side. a little piece of mind goes a long way.
