Trying to Find Local Parks or Playgrounds
Does anybody know of parks or playgrounds in the Haverhill (or nearby) area that have a lot to offer? I'm looking for a place with modern playground equipment, a large area to run around, and maybe a water fountain or sprinklers would be nice! Walking/biking trails I'd like to know about as well. I've been to Winnekinni in Haverhill, and the park in Methuen near the loop mall. But I'm hoping for a more quiet location. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Hi J., Newburyport has several nice parks. The two that come to mind for you are Cashman park & Moseley pines. If you come north on RT 495 take the Amesbury exit and follow thru several lights past Rt. 95 take a Right at the Crossroad plaza (cinemajic Cinema) Lights. Follow road over the merrimac river, the first park is after the bridge on the right. Take a hard left at that intersection and follow merrimac street toward the Downtown and you'll find cashman park about one 1/2 mile on the left. park in the lot after Learys package store. Both parks are new and great locations off the river for a nice Breeze! Enjoy, K.

I was just going to suggest the park Bonnie T. suggested.
It's a great place to cool the kids off in the summer. We have a pool at home but sometimes the kids just want something different. The sprinkler area is great for kids! they have a blast. You can pack a picnic lunch - they have covered picnic tables, too.

Hi J.
What about the park by the plaza with Bldg 19. I believe it's on 110. It has a lot of ball fields - but there is some playgrond equipment and lots of bike/walk paths. It also borders the river. I used to live in Bradford - we went there all the time - my 15yr old took her first steps there - and didn't stop walking and pushing her stroller for hours around that park. There is also ususally an ice cream truck hanging around and there are also bubblers. We used to have picnics at the far back side by the river
Have fun

Check out your library. They should have a book about all the playgrounds in the area. I just got one with probably 100 parks in the North shore area.

Hi J.,
Veterans Memorial Park in Dracut is a nice place to go. (behind the post office) They have a playground with swings, slides, etc. They also have a water sprinkler area, large soccer fields and a walking path around it. I believe they also have a stand to buy food at too. It's someplace different to try.
Have fun!

Ackerman Playground in Boxford is a nice playground and there are 2 baseball diamonds and a soccer field there as well so there's lots of places to run around. Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield also has lots of fields and a water park with a fountain and a small playground.

Hi J.,
There is a small playground in Plaistow on Ingalls Terr.
I like the structure there because my 1 and 3 year olds can both play on it and have fun. There is a ball field and a drinking fountain, port-a-potty too! There are also picnic tables. In the summer for 6 weeks they are not open because of the rec. dept. but other than that I like it. There is also one in Kingston at the fair grounds off of Rt.125. that is really nice with lots of room to run(ball fields) and picnic tables. Anew one was just built in Hampstead NH. off of rt. 121. it's with the ball fields and has bathrooms as well. It's very nice.
good luck
A.
