We are looking for a nice park to have a child's birthday party in November. Looking for a park with play equipment that is appropriate for kids age 3 to 8 & some picnic tables. Would like the park to be somewhere between Western Center Blvd. at Interstate 35 or over near 377 (Denton Hwy.) anywhere north to Keller area. If anyone
has suggestions please let me know. If you could give me the name of the streets or general area of where good parks are. Thanks so much

It's a bit east of you, but the Johnson Road park in Keller (beside the library that's under construction) is a really nice place for a party. So is Keller-Smithfield Activity Node.

I see a lot of people have recommended Bear Creek Park and Johnson Rd. Park you may want to check with Keller Parks & Rec on those, when it comes to using the pavilions they generally have reservation requirements. They may only be during summer but it would really be a bummer to have your party set up and find out that you can't stay there.

Buffalo Ridge park is in Haltom City between Denton Hwy and Haltom Rd, south of Western Center. Park Glen has a huge park on Basswood between Denton Hwy and Beach. The main entrance is on Arcadia Trail. Pavillion, playground, tennis courts. It is connected to some smaller parks, one is off of Ash River, (just off of Park Vista between N. Tarrant and Basswood). A fun one that my kids always enjoyed was Johnson Rd park in Keller. Has a big playround that looks like a castle. It's up by the library on Johnson Rd, between 377 and Rufe Snow.

There is an awesome park at Bear Creek and Keller-Smithfield in Keller. I do not know the name of it, though. It's great... lots of play equipment, trees, bathrooms, picnic tables and parking. And, its a good size park. This definitely isn't North Keller, but I think the best park you will find.

If you want to drive by, take 1709 towards Southlake. You'll pass Kroger, then when you get to the Walgreen's on the right, the next right turn is Keller-Smithfield. It's about 1/2 mile up on the right. You can't miss it. I did find the address on cityofkeller.com (in fact there is a whole list of the Keller parks you might want to refer to.)

The address of this park is 416 Keller Smithfield Road.

Good luck!

Here's a link to all the parks in the Keller area. http://www.cityofkeller.com/index.aspx?page=584 I think we have visited all of them at one time or another and all of them offer something. Bear creek park is our favorite...they have two playgrounds, fields to kick the ball in and we can feed the ducks. They have pavilion space available too. Johnson Road park is also a favorite. We like this one because they have a section of the park intended for under age 5, makes it nice when you have a large group of kids, something for everyone even the little guys or the less advanced. This park does not have any water which is sometimes a bonus, depending on your crowd. They also have covered picnic area. There is some construction going on at the library next door, which wouldn't bother me, but might be a party deterrent.

We love Bearcreek Park, at 200 Bearcreek Parkway in Keller. If you were on Denton Hwy (also called 377), you would turn on Bearcreek Parkway and go 0.2 miles and it'd be on the right. I prefer pulling into that first drive and taking the long windy road to the back, past the pond, and park in the back lot because it's closest to the smaller kids' playground. If you wanted to party at the pavillion though, you can pass that first drive up and park in the big parking lot just a couple drives down.
It's pretty big and nice to walk around. There are bathrooms that are decent, sand volleyball courts, a couple baseball and some soccer fields that would provide running around room for bigger kids if a game isn't going on. There are 2 playground areas---the one we had my son's party at has a playground thing that looks like a pirate ship, and a few other littler things for younger kids. There's a big sandbox too. The trees are mature and that makes for a nice feel. Plenty of picnic tables, and we chose 2 picnic tables with a grill between them for my son's picnic, close to the pirate ship. My husband took the kids for a walk on the path while I got appetizers and drinks ready. There's also a pond at the back with geese and fountains, which is nice to walk by but far enough away from the picnic tables to not be annoying. There's also a covered party pavillion that you can rent out through the city (if it's gonna be big, or if you want protection in case it rains), but you don't have to do anything like that to just use a couple picnic tables in the open.

You might try the Watauga Recreation Center on Indian Springs in Watauga. It has a nice play area for the kids and a couple of covered picnic areas really close by. Turn on Bursey Road off of 377; go through one stop sign at the corner of Whitley and Bursey. Take the next right which is Indian Springs; both Indian Springs Middle School and South Keller Intermediate (SKI) will be on your left hand side. Drive straight about 4 roads in and on your right will be the Watauga Recreation Center. I'm pretty sure you can even reserve the picnic area closest to the play equipment.
