hey moms I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of the built up stuff in the bottom of the toilet you know when no matter what you do or how much you scrub it is still there? just wonder of some suggestions? it is right where the(you know)lol goes on down the toilet. just seems like it is so hard to remove.
You need to get a pumice stone, the only place I know where you can find them is at a hardware store. I wear gloves when I use it. I was first interduced to it while working at Merry Maids. It really does wonders on hard water and even rust spots in the toilet, I have seen it do wonders, it just takes some elbow grease. Good luck

We have the same issues with the toilet bowls at our cottage since the water sits for so long. I also use CLR...just pour it in the bowl and let sit for a couple minutes and SCRUB. Sometimes I have to repeat, but it always ends up clean!
Do not use bleach. It damages the finish. My mother was a professional house cleaner. Here is what she did. Turn off the water to the toilet. Flush the toilet so that there is no water sitting in the bowl. Then scrub it with a non-abrasive cleanser such as Bon Ami. I don't know if this would work but you could try letting straight lemon juice sit on it or scrub it with lemon juice and salt. I've also seen a pumice scouring stick at the grocery store.
Believe it or not; Take a 2 liter bottle of Coke and let it sit the toilette overnight. After that do a quick scrub with the toilet bowl scrubber in the morning and it should come off. Coke is very powerful, but won’t ruin your porcelain finish.
I was just scrubbing at that same spot tonight, I have tried bleach, sitting over night, did nothing. So, skip that one.Hope someone comes up with a good one!
I always just use bleach, but you can also try a product called CLR.
It stands for calcium, lime, rust. You can get it at Rite Aid, Walgreen's, just about anywhere. Pour some in and let it soak. Give it a try. It works for a million different things.
I use a product called "The Works" sold at Wal_mart for 97 cents. It is the best!! I had a stain from water sitting that I tried CLR, Bleach, Pumice stone, you name it but nothing worked but "the works"!
Hi,I am from Webb City and I think it is our hard water around here. I have tried CLR. cleaners of all kinds, scrub with toothbrush. nothing. It makes me crazy. LOL. good luck
I let it soak in vinegar overnight. it helps, makes it easier to scrub away the build up and makes it look nice, but doesn't keep it away (though if you did it weekly or something it might, I'm rather lax about cleaning). It's cheap and easy on the environment...

The pumice stone is your best bet, Wal-Mart used to carry them. We used one on a toilet at my mother-in-laws house that I would have sworn you would have to replace the toilet, it had such bad build up on it. With a little elbow grease I had it looking new and she wanted to know if we had bought a new toilet when we remodeled her bathroom! I still get them occassionally and use them to make the toilet bowl look new! Hope that works for you too.
