My husband gets 'em too (also 2 kids). It's totally normal. We could be driving down the freeway... arguing.. and he'd still randomly get one. Especially for younger men.. I wouldn't worry.

He TOLD you he has random erections! Wow!!

How did that conversation come up? Sorry no pun intended but just wondering if he just came out and told you. =-) If so it’s probably totally innocent.

I’ve heard it is common for men to have random erections but if for him it’s happening ONLY at work it could be the “eye candy”. I don’t know.

Also it is true a man cannot “control” his erection especially if something is exciting him and men are very visual creatures.

If this were my husband it would only concern me if he acted on it.

My husband jokes that he gets an erection if the wind is blowing just right!

Are you having concerns for other reasons? Has he been acting different?

I read somewhere the average male adult achieves 20-50 erections everyday.

Long as he's not using them for anyone but you.....tehehe

Plus, does your mind NEVER wander? Mine does, course I would not act on it. Whether he can 'control' it or not, what does it matter?

I'm really not sure how to respond to this or even why I am responding as I really do not have anything to contribute but why is it that men always say women are hard to figure out?

First we hear they have the equivalent of a garage door with the opener stuck on autopilot in their pants, then as they get older we hear there's a short in the wire.

My DH once told me that erections are similar to goosebumps. You can't control when you get them or when they "leave". I'd like to believe this but then again I'd also like to believe that good fudge and chocolate chips cookies don't go straight to my hips.

I promise I am not trying to make light of your question/concern only provide a little humor if nothing else. I am sure a good Urologist could shed a little light on the subject and may even be able to direct you to a decent website about the topic.

Hope you at least were able to get a laugh to help lighten the load a little. All the best... :-)

Well, now I'm curious about my OWN husband! haha

If he's telling you this, then he's not trying to hide anything and that's a GREAT thing :)

I don't think I'd worry about it too much.

I really don't know. My ex used to get erections more than I thought was normal. And it wasn't because he was wearing tight pants. He could be laying on the couch in his boxer briefs, watching anything on tv, and he might have an erection. No obvious reason for it that I could see. So I am inclined to think that maybe some men are just more prone to these kind of spontaneous erections, or maybe their mind subconsciously thinks of things that cause arousal more. I don't know.

Hey, I'm 63 and I still get random surges of sexual energy. I don't have to have any outside stimulus at all, not even a sexual thought, it just hits. It just doesn't show "up" the way it would if I were a guy. And I don't skip a beat, I just go on doing whatever it is I was doing. Cooking dinner? Returning books to the library? Pulling weeds? Calling my podiatrist's office? Oh, there's that tingle. Continue activity.

I don't know how "average" this is, but I'm pretty sure it's within the range of "normal." And probably more so for guys, based on all reports.

I'd be concerned too. He's either wearing pants that are too tight or he's got a wondering mind/eye.
