Un-circumcised Son and Morning Issues

I have a 13 month old boy, we chose not to have him circumcised do to medical findings, expert opinions, and cultural beliefs. He is doing fine! (to those who on a previous sight told me he would get sick, infections, and laughed at in school) My question is: He gets morning erections really bad, to the point I can not get his diaper on right away, and he wants to run around with out one. I have to wait for some time to get it on him. The ped says its cause he is more sensitive there that he gets one every time I change him. Moms with this problem, what do you do in these cases, do you have a way to diaper them when this is happening, does it lessen later as they get older? He is my first and only boy, I have 2 girls so I am curious, does this continue all there life like this? Of course my husband doesnt remember these things when he was a baby so he is no help. i know it gets better as a older kid but I am talking Preschool age.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

YIKES... let me re-phrase this I didnt ask if they GET morning erections over a NON... I meant he gets them MORE often, and i am comparing this to other boys that I have taken care of that were. So I am not un-knowledgeable about mens penile problems. I just wanted to know if they should be diapered in full "RAGE" Thanks for the advice though! I feel everyone thinks I am an idiot here.
Yes, my husband also gets these, I wasnt sure how to word it properly I just wanted to know as a little boy will he get these more often.
I am not angry, or upset, only at myself for not wording this properly, I will tell myself in the future to be more careful when typing LOL

So even after all the SWH info I still get 2 more women on here telling me not to fuss, and why does it matter about this and that. Well everyone THANKS for the input. I GET IT...

the morning erection has NOTHING to do with being circumcised or not. It is a fact of life - it happens.

My 9 and 11 year old wake up most mornings with one - I notice because their PJs are "tented" (LOL). I don't make a big deal of it and just press on.

If you can trust him to NOT pee or poop on the floor, then let him run around in his birthday suit.

I diaper my 2 yr old even if he has one. I try to point it down as best I can. I know that he probably has one because he has to pee, and if I waited to diaper him until it went down he'd pee everywhere. I don't think it hurts them or causes any harm to put the diaper on. The erection usually does away pretty fast at least it seems to with my two boys.

My son is 3.5yrs old. He's NEVER had a morning without an erection in his life. When I go to take his diaper off in the morning to put underpants on him, he knows that he has to push it to point down.

On the weekends, I just let him wake up a bit before changing him and it goes down after just a few minutes.

And this may be TMI, but my husband [at 41] still wakes up like this [and he IS circumcised]. All boys are different in this dept, but there's nothin wrong with it.

The only advice I have is to point it downward and hurry the diaper over it. That's what we do in our house with our uncircumcised son. :)

Circumcision, or not, has nothing to do with little boy babies getting erections. We have no uncircumcized boys in our family and they all get stiffies from time to time, especially at diaper change. I think it has more to do with a warm, wet diaper being taken off and feeling the cool air.

Just point his winkie down and put the diaper on him.
They have no control over their erections and yes, it does lessen in frequency as they get older.

Best wishes.

my boys also had morning wood - most boys do, circumcised or not... i put the diaper on over it and went on with my day :)

My sons did that too - I just pointed it down and moved on with the diaper change! :)

This happens to my son and we just put the diaper on him, I do try to gently point it down before I put the diaper on. If you want to wait until it has gone down I see no harm in letting him run around. Currently we are potty training and now when my son has an erection I know it is because he has to pee. So that is something to keep in mind when you are potty training.

Boys get it. All boys, any boy. Both my sons get morning wood, they are 12mo, and 2.5yr. My boys aren't circumcised, but my nephew is, and he gets erections too. It's just what happens.

If he feels uncomfortable in a diaper right away in the morning, let him go naked for 10 minutes. Then diaper him like normal :-)

Both mine were circ'd and they always had erections in the morning. I'd do as the other poster said, diaper and be on your way.

Not sure why to specify this to the un-circumcized because I don't think it really matters either way...my son gets them all the time. I would always just put a size larger on him in the morning so it would fit, or point the bad boy up and then strap th diaper closed since it eventually works it's way down again anyway

My son is circumcised but also gets erections every time I change him. I go ahead and diaper him, as the diaper doesn't fit super snug. He never had an issue with it but, again, he is circumcised and maybe it doesn't bother him as much. Good luck! So looking forward to being through with diapers.
