Swedish or Sky Ridge?

I trying to decide where to deliver-this is my second pregnancy. My delivery at Swedish was great-loved the nurses and L&D experience. But, postpartum was awful. We wanted to care for our babies and be with them, but we were constantly pushed for 4 solid days to leave them in the nursery, let them do what they wanted, not be the parents... Basically treated like they weren't really our kids until we went home. Plus, the mandatory transition nursery at Swedish was not a good fit for us, and I do not want to be separated from my baby after birth if I do not choose that.
That being said, I've heard mixed reviews about Sky Ridge, so I'm hoping some of you may have experience with both and can give me your thoughts.

What can I do next?

I delivered my 2nd at Sky Ridge almost two years ago and loved it. We never had ours in the nursery - that was the way we wanted it. They never made us feel bad when we insisted on following my little one to get her measurements and such in the nursery. I had my first at Presbyterian and it was fine but I would pick Sky Ridge over and over again if we have more. Congratulations! I also recommend taking the tour. ;)

We had a terrible, terrible experience at Swedish 5 years ago. Everything from messing up the pre-admission paperwork to taking the baby for a "quick test" that lasted for two hours when I could not get out of bed to see what the hell was going on to really unhelpful, rude nurses to at least 15 different people coming into our room (we stopped counting when they sent in a freaking clown, literally, a clown) the first morning to screwed up billing. Sky Ridge two years ago was such a different experience. Everything went smoothly, the nurses were great during and after labor and we were treated with so much more respect. Highly recommend it.

We loved having our daughter at Skyridge 3 years ago and are going back this January for our second daughter's birth. She was with me all 4 days, day and night. They took her 1 night for about an hour or so to do all of her newborn testing. You can send them to the nursery if you want to sleep but otherwise the baby can be with you all the time. The other thing I liked was that each baby has a tracking device made feel very comfortable that if she wasn't with me everyone knew where she was. All of my nurses were great. Also, each room has a pull out bed if your husband wanted to spend the night . The L & D is all done in one room. The rooms are large and they also have tubs available in each room which was a selling point for me. They do offer a free tour at Skyridge and they can answer all of your questions and give a good idea of what your stay will be like. Good luck and congrats!

I delivered my son 4 years ago at Sky Ridge. I was able to have him with me pretty much the whole time post-partum. My hubbie was also able to give the first bath after delivery which was really cool. I delivered my daughter at Parker (about 1 1/2 yrs ago) and loved that hospital. They even did her first bath in our room so I could watch. HTH and Good Luck!

My first comment is, if you had that many problems at Swedish why go back? I am like you and did not want the nursery to care for my babies. Why don't you just go down to Sky Ridge and interview them? They will show you and tell you whatever you want to know.

Good luck!
