My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary this Saturday. We aren't planning anything big, but do look forward to a nice dinner and evening out with adult conversation :) Has anyone been to the steak restaurant in the Gaylord? Any recommendations for places around the Grapevine area? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up going with Dino's since my husband had also found this in his research and I think someone here suggested it too. We had been to Kirby's before and loved it, so we thought we would try something new. The salad was awesome! The rest of thefood was just OK. The steak was good, but just didn't have enough flavor for me and my husband said the same thing. The atmosphere was nice. So, would we go back? I don't think I would want to spend that much for a meal that is just mediocre.

I hear Old Hickory is fantastic, but a bit expensive. Bob's Steak and Chop House s also in Grapevine on Main Street and Silver Fox is also great and in Grapevine. Have fun!

You should check out Boi Na Braza if you haven't already been. It's a brazilian steakhouse. It's our fave for special occasions. It's an all you can eat affair, so we starve ourselves all day. :) It's off 121, near Hall Johnson Road. It's a little pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. http://www.boinabraza.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx Happy Anniversary1

Boi Na Braza is yummy...but you definitely have to go hungry! Trulucks & Bob's are also good. I have heard good things about Kirby's, but we haven't been yet. I have also heard that the restaurants in the Gaylord are overpriced in general. Hope you find a good place...Happy Anniversary!

My son goes with his dad all the time and they love it. Very nice atmosphere but pricey. I hear Jr's steakhouse by Grapevine Colleyville High School is very good as well. Also pricey.

LOVE Kirby's. Went to Old Hickory a couple of years ago for our anniversary and it was okay. TruLucks is good too. Dino's Steak and Claw House on Main St is not bad. For all the hype of JR's I didn't really like it, but have only been once. Haven't tried Silver Fox or Bob's, but honestly, nothing has compared to Kirby's for me.

Kirby's is the best steak house in the area. Bob's is really, really expensive and Kirby's steak is just as good. I was not impressed with Silver Fox. Happy Anniversary!

We live in Grapevine and have tried the steak house at the Gaylord. It was nice but I would say not worth the money. Hands down our favorite place to go for special occasions is Kirby's. The food and service are excellent- well worth the money.

I have been to JR's, Vineyard Steakhouse, and Bob's Steakhouse that was mentioned and was disappointed. I have heard good things about the Silver Fox but have never been there. We probably won't even try it since we love Kirby's so much.

Have a wonderful time wherever you choose. Happy Anniversary!

I like Old Hickory (Gaylord) especially if you are staying and making a night of it. Certainly more pricy due to location, but still a lot of fun and good atmosphere. Not to mention getting to walk around inside and out. My family always takes one weekend to stay (usually holidays with ICE isthere) we just love the mini-escape Gaylord offers.
Happy Anniversary!

I have been to Kirby's, BoiNaBraza and Silver Fox. Out of the three, I think I prefer Kirby's. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but every time we've been there in the past we've had great service and good food. I've heard Truluck's is way expensive but have never been there. I don't get my money's worth at BoiNaBraza because it's has WAY too much food. I haven't been to any of the other ones mentioned on here, with the exception of Salt Grass and Outback, and I wasn't overly impressed with their steaks and they're not very fancy if you're looking for a romantic evening. Most people who go to Kirby's usually tend to wear something besides shorts and a t-shirt and it's got a nice atmosphere. There's a piano player in the bar at night on weekends. Their fried pickles are GREAT! Happy Anniversary and have fun!

The year the Gaylord opened, we ate at one of the restaurants there for my mother's birthday. It was NOT worth the money in my opinion. It wasn't the steak house, but it was a very pricey restaurant and the food was very disappointing. Now, maybe they've gotten better over time, but I won't waste my money again trying to find out without a recommendation from someone I trust saying they have improved greatly.

In the past, I would have recommended the Tuscan Rib-Eye from Macaroni Grill, if you can believe it. That was a scrumptious steak, but alas, it's no longer on their menu. Now we look to Salt Grass if we want a Rib-Eye in Grapevine. The last time we went, they had a special with a large cut Rib-Eye topped with a lump crab & hollandaise (or garlic butter - I can't remember which) mixture, served with 2 salads and 2 sides of our choice, all to share. It was like a "date" special. My husband and I like to order one entree to share anyway so it worked out great for us. The steak and sides (we had asparagus and garlic or loaded mashed potatoes I think) were great!

We're not big fans of Texas Land and Cattle and the last Rib-Eye I had at Outback was a little lacking in flavor. Of course, these are more "every day" type steak houses so probably not what you're interested in.

We have been to The Silver Fox (William D. Tate Ave.), Kirby's (off 1709 and 114) and J R's Steakhouse (on the service road off 121 between Hall Johnson and Glade Road), which are all in or around Grapevine, Southlake or Colleyville, and they were all very good, but nothing I was so impressed with I absolutely had to go back for more. I will say that the service we received at The Silver Fox was some of the best service I have EVER received anywhere. I don't know if it was just our waiter, or if all their people are that good, but I felt like we were the only people in the restaurant even though the place was packed. I do remember their salad and spinach was excellent, and my filet was really great too. I like to try new places when we go for a really nice expensive meal so it will probably be a while before we go back there, but I would definitely go back. If you want to go to one of these three restaurants, I think they all recommend advance reservations.

I have not been to BoiNaBraza, which the previous poster recommended, but I've been to a similar Brazilian steak house in Dallas/Addison called FogoDeChao (sp?) and it was fantastic! I think the next time I go for a special steak dinner in the Grapevine area, I'll try BoiNaBraza myself.

Hope this helps and happy anniversary!

Blessings,
N.

The Silver Fox in Grapevine, near the main post office and Firestone oddly enough, is top notch. Excellent food, phenomenal service. Been there numerous times and never disappointed. Also, Dino's Steak & Claw House is on Main Street, maybe open a year or so. It offers a neat atmosphere on quaint main street and believe it's getting rave reviews. I only went there on the 2nd night of opening so it was a while ago - but food was delicious and it's not a "chain" steak place.

Kirby's in Southlake, off 114 W is very good as well. I've not yet been to Bob's Steak and Chop House on Main Street but not hearing too many good things honestly. A new place, Vineyard Steakhouse (?) underneath Sky Bar, off NW Hwy, basically facing the Great Wolf Lodge off Texan Trail.
J.R.'s Steakhouse is next to Colleyville Heritage HS off the Hall-Johnson/121 service road and I've heard mixed reviews, but overall good.

Have fun!
