I feel something in my left armpit I have never felt before. I am not sure what it is. Can it be a swollen lymphnode? I did have a mammogram today. It's my yearly one... I am trying not to worry and need encouragement .

What can I do next?

I get swollen lymph nodes all the time. Even the ones that lastes a long time, were taken out, biopsied, and found to be negative. I wouldn't worry, but I do have them checked out if they last longer than 2-3 weeks as another poster said.

Likely a swollen gland, but keep an eye on it. If it is bothering you, a warm compress will help.

As the others have said, it is not uncommon to get swollen lymph nodes in your arm pits (and I also occasionally notice them in my groin or on my neck). They are usually small, round, firm, and often (but not always) sore to the touch. Usually I can associate it with something on the same side of my body as the swollen node (acne, ingrown hair, minor cut that I hadn't even paid attention to, etc.) They usually go away in less than a week, so if your bump doesn't sound like this or doesn't go away relatively quickly, it's worth getting checked out, but it doesn't sound worrisome at this point.

Every once in a while I get little bumps in my armpits...they always go away in a few days...I'm sure you're fine, but the mammogram will confirm that. Try not to worry...

I get them quite frequently. A few days of discomfort, and then mine disappear completely. My mom worked in a breast cancer clinic for 13 years (just left recently), and always looked at them. She said if they last more than 2 weeks to get them checked out. Mine never do! I hope this helps to calm your nerves!

it's probably a swollen lympth node. If it goes away and comes back that means you are probably fighting an infection. Could be something as simple as an ingrown hair, swollen gums, sore throat, etc. If they do not go away then I would see your doctor.

It could be a swollen lymph node but that in itself isn't something to freak out about. First of all has it been there a while or did it just show up today? If you have had it did they take images of the area? If you had a mammogram the node may be irritated by all the boob squashing! The nodes under your arms are just like the ones that you feel when you have a sore throat. If you have any type of infection they may react the same way. It's probably nothing but if you are concerned call or go see your obgyn. I'd rather waste my time at a doctor's office in order to get peace of mind.

I have a lymph node about the size of a pea (not swollen) that I found some years back. They did a mammogram and an ultrasound and a 6 month follow up and determined that is what it was. Did you ask them about it and did they manage to capture it on the mammagram? If not, just to be safe, they may have you come back in. Don't worry. As you can see they are very common.

I have one right now. I get them very frequently; even though I am long done breastfeeding. LOL.... I get them and tey are only swollen lymph nodes. I tell other girls if you touch it and can feel it (other than your fingers; you feel it in your arm pit) or if someone else were to feel it and you are aware they "hit the spot" then they are just a swollen lymphnode or an hair shaft inflamation. They both go away in 2 weeks or less. I would not worry much right now.Just watch it, plus what timing to have had a mammogram right now. (((HUGS)))).
