Shark Steamer

There was a post some months ago with recommendations about the Shark Vac steamer and I thought I had saved it, but can't find it. I recall most responders said the Shark was great for hardwood but for laminate it wasn't recommended. What works well with laminate floors rather than the Shark? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I just bought the Shark Steam mop from Costco for $68 a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE IT! I use it on my laminate floors, and the tile in my kitchen and bathrooms. It really cleans and I'm happy knowing that my floors aren't covered with chemicals when my 10 month old daughter is crawling around on them! It's actually kind of fun to use too, since it's so easy and effective! :) Good luck!

I've got Armstrong grooved laminate flooring and I love the Shark! I'm just cautious not to allow it to sit on the flooring for any length of time while I walk away. I've been using mine for about 6 months now and love the results! I'd tried so many different methods to clean the floor in the past but always ended up with streaks or film. The Shark has removed all past film and leaves a beautiful clean floor. I wouldn't trade it for any other method.

Hi T.,

I don't know about the shark, but I have a Scooba robotic mop. It is absolutely the best thing I every bought -- next to the Roomba vacuum, that is! It is marketed as safe for laminate floors, although I don't have one so I can't attest to this. I do use it on my glued hardwood floors, though. BTW, the Roomba and Scooba are pretty pricey (about $300 - $400 each), but very durable and well worth it!

The Scooba does a light sweep of the floor to pick up small bits of dust and loose dirt, then puts down fresh cleaning solution, scrubs, and siphons up the dirty liquid. It squeegees the floor and leaves it close to dry. (My stone floors dry completely within 5 minutes. The wood floors dry much faster.) This thing works so well, it's even gotten my grout clean on my stone floor. I also use it on my marble floors, tile, and hardwood. The best part is, all you have to do is fill the tank and push the button, then walk away for about 45 minutes while it does all of the work for you--no scrubbing, pushing, wringing, etc. It's very easy to clean out and the battery is rechargeable.

Check out irobot.com for a video demo. You can buy direct from them, or they sell these at Target, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and Sears. BTW, I do NOT work for the company.

I use the shark and I have tile floor. I think it works great! I had the bissel before and after a few uses it did not work that well. I even totally cleaned it out and it still left icky water everywhere. So I spent the money and bought the shark and have been using it for a while now and have no problems at all!
Hope you find something that works for you.
