I've never personally used one, but to me it doesn't seem like a great idea.
I think there are tons of better ways to tone your arms than something like that. But hey that's just me.
One site that I always thought was cool was Sparkpeople.com. They have ton's of exercise videos online that you can follow that aren't hard.
It was kinda like having a personal trainer at my house.
Got to exercise in my pj's and I actually got results.

You're not going to get the body you see on the ads from just using the shake weight, but it will help tone your arms (and the tricep region) and some upper abs. You may want to check Walgreens and Rite Aid for a Get A Grip that also works like the shake weight, but is usually cheaper. You can use regular hand weights to do exercises and other exercises to tone your triceps as well.

I was reading reviews a couple of weeks ago about different fitness products and diet stuff. I read one about the shake weight--if this is the same thing. It is a weghted thing that kind of lokks like a long skinny handweight? Anyway, they said is was pretty cool and the reviewers could feel the muscle use but not to expect the great, fantastic thigs they claim on TV. It is supposed to be good for resistance if you will in fact use it regularly but to make sure you get in some good cardio as well. I cannot remember how I found the review but maybe if you Google Shake Weight +review it will come up.

ive always thought the thing was kind of a joke, its popularity is due to ellen degenerous making her guests use it, and the fact that it mimics a certain action when you use it. I dont see how it could hurt though, might be fun to try, and its not expensive.
just be careful who you use it in front of.
