Seeking Help in Getting Sharpie Permanent Marker Out of My GMC Savanna Van
Please help me. I'm the mom to six children and sadly my interior of my van looks like it is a war zone of markers and different art work. One of my daughter is quite the artist, but she left the art supplies where her younger siblings could get to it. Just a side bar it probably been there for months and I have just found it. The material on the walls looks to be a suede or a velvet, so it is soft. Any suggestions??

So What Happened?™
Thank you, thank you for all the response to my need to reclaim my van from artists LOL. I will first be trying the things I have on hand like the magic eraser and rubbing alcohol and goo be gone. I have to think about being cost efficient. Thanks again

Wow, I can't tell you how often I have an issue at home, and a mom posts the same issue here! I have no solution, but I do have the same problem!!! Two year old grandddaughter has drawn on the couch cushion and on her bedroom floor carpet. They're small spots on the couch, but red marker on a beige couch. The bedroom one is a big spot, and it's blue on very light beige carpet.
So, thanks for posting, and thanks to all who had recommendations!

Oh I can so sympathize with you! The very first day we moved into our new home with brand new, never been walked on carpet, my darling son took a Sharpie to my carpet right in the middle of the room - no hiding that! I did call the company, and as I recall they recommended I use rubbing alcolhol and/or nail polish remover with acetone (be careful with remover - in can melt certain fabrics - test it first). It did come clean, amazingly so. Call the company for their best recommendation. Apparently not the first time - or the last time it has happened! Good luck!

Test in an area first to make sure that the color does not change, but I have had really good luck using the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on my carpet and furniture. I have used it to remove permanent marker out of my step-dad's favorite chair and it all came out. I don't know who invented these, but it is a wonderful thing to have.

I was reading today about a product called Motsenbockers Lift Off 3- it is supposed to work on fabrics and other materials and will even work on permanent markers....the person told me she gets it at Lowes (she's an Ebay seller and often needs to make sure her items don't have marks on them.) Worth a try...I did find Mr.Clean Magic eraser worked on my leather car interior.

Magic Eraser worked well on the good wood bedroom furniture. From what I hear, it works on most anything.

There is a product called Amodex that you can get at Office Max. I got ours in Oswego by the Target store. It is located just inside the door where by the registers where they sell all the small items and candy. My son drew with a Sharpie on our couch and it was a lot of ink on it. I looked online and the Sharpie company recommended it. It got it out. It took a couple of times working on it, but it worked very well. It also gets out pen stains. The little boy I watch got ink all over his parents' bedspread and I told them about it and they used it to get it all out, too.
