Seeking an OB GYN in the Western Suburbs
My husband and I just found out we're expecting our first child, and am interested in hearing any sort of advice anyone can offer regarding a good OB GYN or hospital in the western suburbs. We're interested in finding a doctor that will be there to walk us through this very new and excited time. I'd love to hear of personal experiences that can help us find the right fit.

I went to see the midwifves in Park Nicollet (St. Louis Park) for my 3rd baby and for the 4th. I loved them. Couldn't say enough good things about them. I just found out I lost the 4th baby and they referred me to Dr. Nicole Dean(OB GYN) in Park Nicollet. She seems to be very wonderful when we met her, very compassionate and caring.
That's my experience. Hope it helps. And Congrats on the baby, very exciting times for you guys!

I can very very highly recommend Dr. Deborah Krahl with Aspen Medical Clinic. She works out of the Bloomington and Hopkins clinics :). She's knowledgeable, dedicated to her patients, and specifically went to a small OB/GYN practice so that she could deliver more of her patients.
She was my doctor at a very large practice, and was unfortunately not able to deliver my son when it was his time to be born. We were both upset - but that didn't stop me from following her on to her new clinic - it wasn't exactly her fault!
However - she listened throughout my pregnancy, addressed all concerns - and didn't talk down to me. We disagreed on a couple of points, and were able negotiate agreements that we were *both* happy with when issues came up. You have to love a doctor who will respect when a patient has feelings on specific subjects!
Enjoy your pregnancy!! Congratulations!

Okay, he's not in the western suburbs, but well worth the trip!! My family practitioner, Dr. Daniel Larkin, is an ob. doc as well. He goes to all his own deliveries (most offices just send whoever is on-call). He is young, funny, and is up on all the latest information. He is also certified to do waterbirths. He is at Healtheast on Rice Street in St. Paul. He's really great, and though I moved from St. Paul to the western suburbs between my first and second children, it was worth the drive to see Dr. Larkin again! An added bonus is that he goes to Woodwinds hospital--one of the newest and most beautiful in the Twin Cities.
Best of luck during this exciting time!

Looks like you're getting enough names, but I'd like to add mine to your list. I've seen the Midwives through Park Nicollet. They deliver at Methodist in St. Louis Park. This is our second baby and I'm looking forward to another natural childbirth.
A friend of mine is just starting out with the HCMC Midwives-she has been very impressed with their knowledge, low c-section and intervention rates and knowing that a Dr. is across the hall if complications occur during labor/delivery is putting her mind at ease.
Make sure that who ever you do decide on-interview them. Ask about their c-section rates, episiotomy rates, inductions, % of births they attend, etc. Make sure you tell them what you expect and see if they're a good fit. Switching part way through is easy too-so if something makes you uncomfortable-you're not stuck! It's all about you! Have a great pregnancy, labor and delivery!

I have gone to Diamond Women's Center in Edina (across the street from Southdale) for about 8 years now and really like their clinic... from the doctors, to the nurses and medical technicians, to even the staff in the business office. I usually see Dr. Mary Ann Jacob, but have also seen Dr. Juan Angelats (who delievered our first child). I highly recommend both. They have always been very approachable and willing to answer any questions I had. There are also 2 doctors in the clinc (Dr. Chow and Dr. Wright who have been named in the list of top doctors in Mpls./St. Paul magazine.

I see Dr. Gregg Teigen at Ob gyn west and would highly recommend him. He has offices in Eden Prairie and Wayzata. When I delivered he made every effort to be there. I like that I wasn't just assigned to the doctor on duty. I've been realy happy with the clinic.

I've been going to OBGYN west for about 2 years now. I work with Dr. Princ, who actually is a fairly new doc (been practicing for 2.5 years). I like her a lot. She's quite thurough in her approach, and seems to be very knowledgable.
