I have suffered with rls for years and believe it or not a bar of ivory soap under the botttom sheet at the foot of your bed will work..it will take a couple of days to notice ..but I have been using it for three years now and sleep great..you need to change out the soap about every two -three months..It works on some people and not others..but it is worth a try..good luck.

Wow...I have had RLS since I was 12 (now almost 32). I'm sorry....it really sucks and can interfere with your life and sleeping. The only things I have found to work are medications. I use to take Requip but now take a generic medication called Ropinirole. Maybe ask your PCP or other doctor to prescribe one of those for you. I'm not sure how it is diagnosed---I think just by the symptoms. I know if you do a sleep study they monitor your legs for it by putting the wires on them. If you wake up kicking you might have Periodic Limb Movement Syndrome which is different.

my doc just gave me a combination of restoril and rosarum. I take the restoril 4 nights on 2 nights off and if I wake or miss the peak of the restoril I take a rosarum for the first time in a long time I have something working
I also do Yoga at night to stretch out my body and help it relax.
going off caffeine completely, and limiting my sugar also helped a lot. (I went off sugar for a month to see if it made a difference and I don't eat it much now because it really did) also making sure that I am hydrated through out the day--for now it is working, going on 2 weeks which is a miracle for me--

I know this is going to sound crazy, but when I was pregnant and had RLS, my neighbor swore if I put a bar of soap under the blanket, that would help. I thought it was crazy and never did try it so I'm not sure if it works or why it would work, but she swears by it and so did her mom and grandmother.

You need to see a dr stat! And get Lyrica or Neurontin. Those are both for restless leg syndrome. Good luck!

I feel for you, D.. I've had intermittent RLS in conjunction with my other health challenges (like fibromyalgia) over the years and I can definitely relate to the sleeplessness. What has worked for me is some basic nutritional support, believe it or not. And I've also successfully used some natural herbs. If you want more specifics, feel free to send me a private message with your e-mail address and I'll get you some info.
Blessings,
A.

I to have rls. I am on medication for mine. It has worked really well for me. I had to answer a questionaire and from there was diagnosed. Before they figured out what was up with me I thought I would go crazy. It felt like I had bugs crawling all over my lugs, so I can empathize with you.

Sounds as though your metabolic balance is off. Go to www.mymangosteen.com/edlerteam and research a natural product called Eleviv. Get in touch with me if I can answer any questions for you. We LOVE this product and I'm sleeping better than I have ever slept since I can remember. I have five children :) Sleep is so important, especially for healing.
Get some winks :)

I don't suffer with RLS but sometimes struggle with sleep problems. I have a bottle of melatonin and have found that by taking more, it actually makes me wired. It's a hormone and one that hasn't been researched too much for long time usage and taking more does not guarantee more/better results. In my case, the reverse. Sometimes if I take just a low dose, it helps me to fall asleep but not really stay asleep. I find that a PM sleep aid really works better for me but I have to take it early and go to bed earlier or I'm very groggy for the 1st couple of hours the following morning. With the melatonin I love not have that heavy feeling in the a.m. Maybe try taking an RX by a dr. for a more direct approach and not self-medicating on the sleep issue and read for a bit at night in bed. I often nearly fall asleep when reading and just lay my book in the middle of the bed so I don't get woke up. Get one of those little lights that just clip on your headboard or a smaller one that clips on the book. Anything that helps you to relax your muscles before going bed. Good sleep is so important and I hope you get some!
