Present Ideas for 6 Year Old Girl

My niece will be 6 in July and we have no idea what to get her. She lives in California so we don't see her very much. What's the hot toy or something that 6 year old girls like nowadays?

What can I do next?

Webkinz are pretty hot right now in MN- but I know they have been on the East/West coasts for a lot longer than here- so the craze may be over there. American Dolls, board games, polly pockets, a purse with hair stuff/kid makeup (libby lu??) , etc. Or ask her parents for ideas!

You could let her pick out the gift herself...we offer a line of gift albums where you send the gift album to the receipient, and the receipient can choose one gift out of the album that he/she wants. These are always a big hit, and there is no additional shipping charge on the album, along with a 90-day guarantee. Check out the KLUTZ album on www.rharms.ordermygift.com.

Can you ask her parents what she is into? At that age, they tend to have sets of things or particular preferences. I would at least get a theme, and work around that. Right now, you're going in cold, and you don't want to get something just "6-year-old girl" which she may or may not be into.

The other route to go is to get her something that represents Minnesota, so she knows where it's from--a Team Cheerleader outfit of a team that your family likes. (Okay, that's where my creativity stops apparently.) Check out a Hey, Minnesota! store and see what clicks with you.

My daughter is 7 and has been really into the Polly Pockets and The Littlest Pet shop. She is also really girly, so we have made small gift baskets for her friends birthdays with things like nail polish, a nail file, brush, hair things, fun smelly bath stuff. They have all seemed to really like it. She was also beginning to read chapter books, so my daughter liked getting books. There are so many good ones out there!
