Birthday Present for 8 Year Old Girl

I have to pick up a birthday present for an 8 year old girl and have no idea what to get. Its hard to know if girls are over Barbies and on to makeup! Any ideas? Thanks!

thanks ladies! I ended up putting together a little set with lip smackers stuff and:hair accessories!

Whatever you get, just give a gift receipt and then if you've made the wrong choice, she can exchange it for what she would like! Make sure to TAPE the receipt to the card or the gift so it doesn't get tossed with the girt wrap accidentally!

My niece is turning 8 next month. I am getting her a cute outfit and having my kids each pick something small for her like a toy, book or journal. Cute stationary might be fun too. My kids (ages 7 & 4) love sending and receiving mail.

My 7 1/2 yr old is completely into clothes, shoes, and accessories! Purses, hair things, jewelry...you name it! Barbies are still cool though at 8 yrs old! Books (chapter books) are good for this age, too! Good luck!

For my nieces 8th birthday she wanted books (Puppy Place series). We also got her glow in the dark nail polish, a necklace, and a spa set (make your own hand lotion etc). She loved all of it! Kids that age often are into make your own necklace craft sets or even a good art set. Hair accessories are often a big hit. I just went to a 10 year olds party and all the girls age 6 and up loved the headbands, big flower barrettes etc. Just have fun shopping!

My daughter turns eight next week. Here are some things she likes...
-art/craft projects
-stuffed animals (playing animal hospital with them)
-bracelets or anklets
-chapter books- Junie B. Jones is a popular series for this age

My daughter is 8, her birthday is upcoming.
She wants: a "feather" for her hair.
Salons have it. In our city it is about $10.

My daughter also likes getting gifts cards from her favorite stores. Or Barnes & Noble. That way she can get what she wants.

I bought a necklace for a 7 year olds birthday with her initial on it and a bracelet to match. She loved it and her Mom told me she stills wears it. I am sure an 8 year old would love any kind of jewelry like that. Lipgloss and fingernail polish is a nice gift too at any age.
