Need Ideas for Christmas Gifts for Girls

For our daycare Christmas party my 2 boys drew 2 girls names. We have an 11 1/2 year old and 6 year old girl. I have young boys so have no idea what girls like and what is age appropriate. Our spending limit is $5-8 - which makes this even harder. Please any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks to everyone for such great advice. I actually went to Toys R Us today because they were having a big sale. They had some littlest pet shops on sale that looked really cute. But I ended up finding a Color Explosion 4 poster Set of Princesses. It's age said 6+ so I got that for the 6 year old. I thought it looked funner for her.

For the 11 1/2 year old I got a set that had lip gloss and nail polish in it. It came in a cute little bag.

For the 6 year old I would suggest: Littlest Pet Shop or Polly Pockets - both you can get some fun little things for $5 at Wal-Mart. Especially since you are puchasing from boys those are "safe" gifts! :-) Books are also a great idea at any age - for the 6 year old I would Junie B Jones or Pony Pals would be fun ones for her to get. Good Luck!

Jewelry (bracelets or neclace) or Webkinz would be great for the 11 1/2 year old. I think Webkinz for the 6 year old would be good too. I think they hae smaller webkinz that do not cost as much. At least they use to. Also, for the 6 year look at Crayola or arts and crafts. They will love anything you get them.

I don't know if you are a black Friday shopper but there are tons of cheap deals for little girls! Most little girls are into Hannah Montana or High School Musical. Walmart has dolls for $5 on BF. If you don't know if they would like these, things like art supplies or books are always great. With the older girl maybe bath & body products? Walgreens has $1.99 body butters in their ad. Just some thoughts while I'm making my own lists!

I would hit the Target dollar section. There are a LOT of cool things there. At least I think so. Anything on the girlie end would really work. Hope that helps!

You've gotten a lot of great gift ideas! I would add a journal and pen to your list. My girls love these and can never have too many!

I am rather conservative when it comes to gifts. As a teacher and a mother, I highly prefer something educational or something that inspires creativity. I suggest art supplies or a fun book. I would personally stay away from sensational things like Hanna Montana. I would also not be pleased with make-up for my 11yr old daughter.

Hanna Montana is really popular and I know that the day after Thanksgiving, WalMart is going to have some of the Barbie type Hanna dolls for 5 bucks.

I would say Polly Pockets for the 6 year old and nail polish and lip gloss for the 11 year old.

I LOVE the idea of a small photo album, maybe with a disposable camera - Cheap and easy to operate, and will give them projects to do putting the photos they take in their new albums
