Mommas do you have any suggestions as to a travel destination I can escape to with my family just for the weekend ? We would prefer not to drive more than 3 hours. Is there any nice town in Oklahoma ? or some place we can just walk around and do a little sightseeing. Thank you

What can I do next?

You should look into the Turner Falls/Arbuckle WIlderness area in Oklahoma. It is just a couple hours north of here and has lots of fun for families. The Arbuckle Wilderness has an exotic animal safari park, petting zoo, and amusement park (www.arbucklewilderness,com) while Turner Falls has lots of cabins for lodging that can provide a fun "camping" experience for you. I think you would have a great time!

We have 2 timeshares with Silverleaf Resorts and they have a location in Tyler...about an hour 1/2 from the Dallas area. On referrals I send to them (all I need is your name and a phone number where they can contact you)my referrals get a free 3 day/2 night stay. All you have to do is go thru their presentation (not bad, plus you get free breakfast or lunch, depending on the time you tour...for ALL of you)...then the kids could go play while you and hubby go thru the presentation...take the baby with you...will help "shorten" the time you have to spend with them :-)

Activities on site that are free:
Movie theatre showing different movies each day
Archery, putt-putt, swimming, tennis, board games, ping pong, and more.
They also have a marina where you can use their paddle boats for free.

We LOVE going out there for weekend get-a-ways...not too far and tons of fun.

The units include all your linens, a full kitchen with all the pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, etc. All you need is your personal items and your food.

Let me know if you are interested...my number is ###-###-####.

We like to go to San Antonio or Austin. I have no idea how far of a drive they are. If any drive is over 2 hrs we fly. The flight is about an hour on Southwest.

We like the Riverwalk area in San Antonio the best.We like the college town and artsy feel of Austin.

Enjoy!

Hi K. and congrats on the baby, how fun to get to experience this all over again! this is one of the only downfalls of living in Dallas. There really aren't many fun destinations close by. As far as big destination, the closest I know of is Sea World and Riverwalk in Austin, about 3 hours hours away but there are fun stops as you get close by. I forgot the names of the towns but you could google it, there's a big shopping outlet and another town w/ a waterpark and I think maybe a petting zoo. If you're into camping we stayed in a 3 bdrm log cabin (w/ A/C) in Ouachita, AR grilled, kayaked and canoed it was alot of fun. It gets a little trickier w/ the baby I know. Another suggestion really closeby, you could even go just for the night, stay in Grapevine at GrayWolf Lodge, it's an indoor swimming amuzement type place that's been featured on the Travel Channel never been there but thought that would be fun when my kiddos got a little bigger. You could check the reviews online. Good luck and hope you get some much needed zzz's and tons of smiles along the way!

I know that they're probably a little further than just 3 hours, BUT Hot Springs, AR is really great. They have the horse races and hot springs which I'm sure your girls would love. You could stay right on the lake which is right by the horse track. Grand Lake in OK is also a fun little get away and not too far.
