Novasure - Cleveland,TX

Research is good! I too have been doing research on the same topic and am no closer to a decision than I was when I started.

I have 2 aunts who have done it - it worked with one and not the other. I have 3 friends who have done it and 1 would recommend it and the other 2 would not. The ones who have not been happy with the process have harder and longer cramps lasting for several days and 1 had bleeding about 2 years later and wound up having a hysterectomy anyways.

Still pondering my own gameplan.......

Hello, I just wanted to tell you my experience. I had that procedure done is 2007 after some uncontrollable bleeding. I had a D&C first that didn't help then my Dr. suggested the Novasure. It's wasn't bad first night cramping but within a few weeks I was back to bleeding and did end up having a hysterectomy at 39. My sister also had the procedure and ended up having at hysterectomy at 31. I'll tell you what I Love having no periods. Please contact me in the future if you need too. M. E.

You need to have your doctor explain, and draw a picture if necessary, why (s)he recommends the Novasure procedure. I had painful cramping and heavy periods so I asked what exactly was causing my problems. I asked about every possible alternate procedure since I didn't want to have a hysterectomy. After an ultrasound, my doctor was able to draw out what a uterus looks like, what my fibroid tumors looked like and where the fibroid tumors were. Then she explained what each procedure does. Because of the location of my fibroids, I was not a candidate for any procedure other than a hysterectomy. The question I always ask if there is more than one option is, "If I were your mother, what would you recommend?" If your doctor cannot explain it well enough to make you 100% sure of what is going on, ask for a second opinion. Good luck.

I had one 2 years ago and I am so glad I did. I had heavy heavy periods & cramping. I went from 6 hrs of necessary sleep to 10, and was still tired. I had a polyp which could of been why it was uncontrolled bleeding. I tried the pill and though they were slightly lighter, they lasted longer. It was a polypectomy or ablation. The Dr & I felt enough was enough and did both (polyp was benign). It was an outpatient at the hospital and I slept through it all. After the procedure it was several days of cramping, each day much less than the day before. Now I don't have periods to speak of though I will get signals from my body so I know "its that time." Other than that it is so much better!!

I had the Novasure done in May. I'm pleased with the results after it has been done. I had really heavey bleeding and was told to have a hysterectomy in my early 20's but said no because I wanted to have children. I now have 2 girls, 4 and 2. I have been spotting for the last 2 mths but would rather have this than what I was going thru before. I would recommend it and not much down time as a hysterectomy.

I had it done back in Feb. of this year and I am soooo glad I had it done. I had had heavey bleeding and cramping, but now I just spot maybe 1 day and no really bad cramps. The Dr. said it works better if you have not had alot of kids.

I had my Novasure procedure done almost 3 years ago. I am soooo happy I did it. I felt discomfort for about a week but then I also got my tubes tide. That makes the procedure 100% proof of not getting pregnant. I don't get a period or cramps any more. Maybe just a back ache once in a while but not like before the procedure. I'm enjoying life so much more. I don't even have mood swings like before. I can't say enough about it. I love it.

My Aunt and I both had the procedure done. She was very happy with the results, I ended up with a husterectomy a year later. The decision to have it done or not I think depends on what problems you are hoping the procedure will end. If you are just having heavy cycles, it might help. If you have heavy cycles along with other issues such as overian cysts, the hysterectomy is something worth discussing further with your doctor. I had cysts and heavy cycles, the Novasure helped with the heavy cycles, (it didn't stop them) but did nothing of course for the cysts. Not that I was told it would, but I was told it would fix "all the issues", I just wasn't told one of my issues was large cysts. My advice is to take into consideration all of your symptoms, discuss every one of them with your doctor and what you should expect from Novasure, compare it to the results of a hysterectomy and then decide what is best for you. Good morning! I had the procedure done in June this year. Before I had this procedure done I spent 4 years contemplating it and researching. I have had 3 OBGYNs (due to ins. changes) and all 3 recommended it. When I first started researching it, they only did it as an outpatient surgery. Now some drs complete it in their office. I did have the inner office procedure done and my husband took me home in just a couple of hours. I was down all day friday with pain meds, but on Sat I was up on my feet a little at a time. I did return to work on Monday and had a great check up on Friday. I have 6 friends who have had the procedure as well. All of us have had a great experience and I will have to deffinately recommend this to any woman having pms issues and bad peiods. I do have very little to no pms issues and no cycles.
