New to the Area - Virginia Beach, VA

Hello Everyone,
This is kind of weird for me to do, but I am new to the Virginia Beach area and I do not know anyone. My husband is in the Navy so he has met people, where I am a stay at home mother so I do not get to get out to meet people. I love my son to pieces but sometimes it would be nice to have other people to talk to.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you everyone you were all so helpful. I have joined a couple groups for stay at home mothers. Maybe some of you are in these groups and we will get to meet!

Wow we have a lot in common. I live in VA Beach and I've never had to search for other moms like me either. But I've also never been a stay at home mom:) Right me sometime and let me know a little about you and ask me me anything you'd like. I've lived here for almost a year but don't know to many people either.

Plus there is a few more navy wives that live in VA Beach you could possibly meet. If interested my URL is www.myspace.com/lilprincess3909 Im a SAHM also, and moved here in Feb. So i know what its like to be home all the time!

join a play group it's free. we chat online all the time and get out to play and talk with others on occasion. go to yahoogroups.com and search for one. i'm in two hamptonroadsmodernmoms and christianmomsgrouphamptonroads or search for others inthe area and ask to join. i love it.

A simple welcome!

Hi A.! Welcome to the area! I am a Navy wife and in the Navy as well. I have a 2 1/2 year old son. Have you ever been to meetup.com? There are lots of moms groups in the Va Beach area, and all kinds of other groups out there for whatever your interests are. Good luck, and welcome!!

Hi A., welcome to Virginia. Well from my experience, yes it is very lonely being a Navy wife. When we first moved here, we were lucky because another Navy family with a baby moved in next door shortly after we did. My son and my neighbor's son are still best buddies even though we bought a house and are no longer next door neighbors. There are a lot of play areas at the local malls and you can meet other moms on Cafe Mom website or Stroller Strides, maybe once your husband is settled in at work, he should get you acquainted with the wives of his coworkers. Good luck.

If you go to meetup.com they have lots of meetup groups for moms. I belong to the Mocha Mommies ( even though I don't like coffee ) and they are a wonderful and welcoming group of ladies. Lots of kids of all ages. I also belong to Christian Moms on the go. It is a new group but I know a lot of the ladies. Good luck and I look forward to meeting you. Both groups have a large military population and we have meetings all over the area.

We are Navy also and I have met so many people through my church. It is located in Chesapeake but many people who attend live in Virginia Beach. We also have a lot of military families. Please come and join us this Sunday. River Oak church 9am 255 Great Bridge Blvd. Chesapeake Riveroakchurch.org We have great programs for children. I hope to see you there.
