Need a Nice Looking Fruit Tray

A friend of mine is getting ready to throw a large graduation party for her daughter. She was going to initially have it catered but it was going to be $700 for finger foods like nachos, chips and salsa, finger sandwiches, hot wings, fruits and veggie trays.

She has now decided to round everything up and do it herself. Not necessarily make it all but put it together. She would like to buy prepared fruit and veggie trays but not something just thrown together. Something that presentation wise looks really nice but still affordable.

any suggestions would be great.

Hi L.,

I have special ordered fruit and veggie trays from Kroger and they do a wonderful job! They actually look like something you would get from Central Market but for 1/2 the price.

You can go online to kroger.com or stop in and look at their special party menu's.

Have a great day!

Central Market does wonderful fruit trays and everything else. You can get a menu at the front concierge.

Go with a warehouse club like Sam's or Costco. They'll be larger and cheaper than a regular grocery store.

I know she is on a budget, but Edible Arrangements might be a good place to look for a fruit bouquet. They are always a hit at parties and feed a fair amount of people. The nice thing is that you don't have to spend the extra money on centerpieces, just use them.

Costco (or even Sam's) have alot of stuff that would meet your requirements. They have fresh fruit platters, veggie platters, shrimp platters, etc. Also, Sam's club has some rolled frozen finger sandwich thingies that are very attractive (they don't come with a platter).
The presentation is reasonable enough. If it's not nice enough for you, then go to the dollar store or Tuesday morning and buy some fairly expensive fancier platters or ask friends and neighbors to borrow theirs - just make sure EVERYONE puts their name on the bottom, so they can be returned. I honestly don't think most folks worry about the platters as much as one would think. Decorating the area around it might suffice and maybe splurge on a few of the fancier fruit displays or put small bouquets of fresh flowers.

You might also try Tom Thumb, or Costco.
They both do great looking trays.
