Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get fruit and veggie trays? How about a birthday cake?

I am looking for something inexpensive, unique and yummy!

What can I do next?

I recently got a bday cake for my daughter from Target, and was not impressed. Their price was $10 cheaper than Jewel, but it did not taste right. I would do Sam's club for the veggie/fruit tray, but I also didn't care for their cake. Maybe I am just picky --- cause I love my sweets!! (:

I recommend Sam's Club. Beware of the blue frosting though - makes people teeth & lips & tongue blue :-)

We just had a bridal shower for my friend and got a simply delicious fruit and cheese tray from Dominick's, which surprised me how good it was!

Hi, i personally like Jewel's veggie tray. It comes with a wonderful dip and is inexpensive. For the cake I found Target has the greatest variety of decorating options and they will even customize if you order a week in advance. Hope this helps.

Costco is great if you have a membership or know of someone who does. We got my daughter's cake there for $15 and it serves 50 people. They also have large fruit and veggie trays there too.

I noticed you live in Schuamburg - have you tried Valli's produce market on the corner of Higgins and Roselle?

Fabulous produce and inexpensive but VERY crowded since it is so popular. They also make fabulous subs for a very reasonable price.

If you don't mind driving a bit there is another produce market called Caputo's in Palatine at the corner of Rt12 and Hicks rd - they are my favorite, once you go to one of these markets you will never buy produce at Jewel again!

For cakes I have always had luck with Jewel and they have alot of decorating options.

Hi N.,

I have done Dominicks and Costco and had luck with both of them. I just had my daughter's 3rd b-day party and had the cake from Dominicks and it was a hit!

Have fun!

Sam's Club, or Corky's catering in Addison. Have you considered making fruit & veggie trays yourself? My aunt & I made fruit & cheese platters about 5 of them actually for my gram's b-day party & it only cost us about $30-40 for the food

I would go with Jewel. The cakes are made fresh with real strawberries or bananas and very inexpensive. You can have it decorated or choose a theme. The party trays are good as well.
