Need a Diaper That Last All Night

Ladies, I need help! My daughter is 6 months old and her diapers have been able to absorb all the pee at night until now. This last week she has soaked though the pamper and her nightie at least 5 times. She is drinking alot more formula and she gets her last bottle about an hour before she goes to sleep. We usually change her before she goes down for the night but she is soaking the pamper size 2. She is just a few pound away from going into the size threes. Do you know of a diaper that is long lasting for night time. I have looked but I have not seen any for little ones like her. R.'

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all your responses. Considering I have 100+ size two diapers, I will use those during the day and go a size up at night. I appreciate all your advice.

I agree with all the moms who suggested going up a size at night. This was recommended for my twins when they were wetting through the night and it took care of the problem. I don't believe the "overnight" diapers are necessary or worth the extra money.

I have to buy Huggies Overnights for my son. We suffer the same problem at night. I buy them at Target, not all stores seem to carry them for some reason.
Good Luck!

Hi R.!!!
With all 3 of our children, we've always had the best luck with Huggies Supreme (I'm pretty sure thats what they're called) they come in the all red bag. my kids were all a lil on the chubby side, so we were always using the next size up diaper from what they should have been wearing. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM LUVS!!!! I work in the infant dept at Walmart, and any customer I have spoken with agrees that Luvs do NOT hold like the hoover dam, as they say in the commercial.

hope this helps!!!

We've had really good luck with the Costco brand diapers. They come in huge boxes and absorb really well. I actually like them better than both Pampers and Huggies. We've tried all of the brands, even the generic ones like Target and Kroger, but none seem to do as well as the Costco brand and you can't beat the price!! Hope this helps in more ways than one!

Usually when a child is soaking through their diapers it means that it is time to move up to the next size whether the pounds are right or not. I had the same problem with my daughter and it stopped as soon as I got the bigger size. Also you could out small size goodnites diapers over her regular diaper if going to the bigger size doesnt work.

Try the bigger size. That's what we had to do. Once we bought the bigger size no more soak thrus. Just a thought. Or even those plastic undies that go over cloth diapers. Could try using those during the night.

Hi R.,

I have a solution for you. My son (age 2) was wetting thru at night, also, and someone recommended to me that I buy "Diaper Doublers." It's an insert, almost like a large maxipad, that you put in the diaper, and it absorbs the extra liquid.
I've only been able to find them at Babies R Us, but they're only $2.99 for 30 of them. They've worked great for us, and very inexpensive!

Good Luck!

If they are leaking go ahead and go to the next sixze for night time use and use the others for day time use. Your are changing your baby more during the day than you are at night so if she is peeing more she is going to leak through them at night. I learned that the hard way with my daughter and figured it out by the time I had my son. Plus I know someone who works with diapers as part of thei job and she told be that is when you know you need the next size up. The weights on the diapers are not by the pounds of your child but for what can be held in the diaper for the size of the child.

I have used pamers cruisers, they have a stretchy side. I have liked them best for my kids.

I use Pampers Baby-Dry in a size bigger than what he uses during the day. My 8 month old boy wears size 4 at night, but size 3 Pampers cruisers during the day. He sleeps from 6:30 - 6:00, so that's 11 1/2 hours without problems. Does it weigh a lot when we get him in the morning? You bet! Are his pajamas wet? Nope!

Just get the next size up and see how it works for her. Since you say she is close to going up to size 3, you might even want to try giving size 4 a try at night. If it is too big, just save them for when she can wear them and you're not out any money.

My son is 4 months old and is in a size 2 and almost in a size 3. I know what you are talking about. I just tried on a size 3 and they will actually be a lot better on him even though he's not exactly a size 3 yet in weight, but they are taller on him. If you haven't tried one on her that may be a good idea. Also, pampers swaddlers makes a 2/3 that may fit better. I don't know if you are using a pampers swaddler, baby dry, or cruiser, but you may want to try one of the others that you're not using they may be more absorbent. Especially the baby dry or cruiser since they are made for older babies! Hope this helps.

HUGGIES OVERNIGHTS! I'm not a big fan of Huggies but it was the only one that worked at night. So we would use the overnights at night and pampers Swadders/Cruisers. Babies R us has the Huggies Overnights. Walmart has them too (if you shop there) I no longer support them but they are the cheepest. Make sure to get the overnights not the regular diapers.

Hi R.,
I have always gone a size up when the girls diapers began to leak. I used Pampers with my first daughter, and she had the same problem, so we switched to Huggies Supreme and I have yet to have a wet bed. Even if you stick with Pampers I would reccomend using a size larger. Good luck! Let us know what happens.

Boy, have I been there! We use a combination of Huggies Overnights (I can usually find them at Target & Babies R Us) and Diaper Doublers (like a maxi pad, available at Babies R Us). The Diaper Doublers are only $2.99 for 30, so they are very inexpensive.

Hope this helps!

HUGGIES OVERNIGHTS
HUGGIES OVERNIGHTS
HUGGIES OVERNIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously, i think they make them in small sizes. these diapers were the answers to all of our troubles. i was literally washing: pj's, crib sheet & crib pad EVERY NIGHT until my SIL suggested them. she has 2 girls & swore by them. they're also great if you know you won't be able to change her for a bit (long car ride, etc.)

also, a friend of mine will sometimes put a pull up on over the overnight diaper if she knows she needs extra protection. (like when they travel in hotels or to inlaws).

they're not the easiest type of huggies to find. wal-mart only sells the GIANT size package.... cvs carries them, but they're a little over priced. i think target has them & their baby prices are pretty good.

Pampers Cruisers are the best diapers I ever found for night time. My son was big enough for those night time diapers and he would soak through them more than the pampers cruisers. The Baby Dry pampers did not work as well as the cruisers and he ALWAYS leaked out the side of all Huggies brands. The cheaper diapers wouldn't last one pee during day time, so I never thought once of trying them at night. I swore by pampers cruisers with my one and will again if I ever have another.

I've always found that Huggies has worked the best for long hours. Now, I have a boy and I've been told that Huggies works best for boys and Pampers works best for girls but hey it still might be worth a try. Good luck.

Maybe try some training pants over her diaper? They probably won't come in her size but it might be okay if they are big because she will be wearing them with a diaper. We had some for my daughter that were plastic with cotton lining inside. I think they were from Target but I'm sure other stores sell them too. Good luck!

at six months old she should still be changed at the middle of the night, especially if her last feeding is before 11 and definately if you don't wake her up before 8. I think that you should go to the size three, but don't expect miracles. You also may want to switch her to less formula and more solid foods.

She's not peeing through the diaper. It's coming out the back and the sides around her legs most likely. It's too small. I would suggest that you move to the next size. The weight requirement on diapers is just a guideline. My daughter is 5 months old, but she's already in size 4s. She was peeing out of the threes.

I agree with all the other responses you have gotten. When my 11 month old starts peeing through in the middle of the night, we go up a size and it stops. However we use Luvs and have no problems with leaks. My dd sleeps from 8 to 8 with no leaks. Good luck and I hope that the leaking stops!! I know it's a pain in the rear.

I would switch to the next size. It never hurts. They also make overnight diapers - huggies brand. But I think the smallest they come in is size 4. I did find at Toys R Us an insert for diapers - it looked like an big old fashioned maxi pad, but you just put it in the middle of the diaper and it was supposed to increase the absorbacy. I never tried them as I didn't really have that problem. You might want to try another brand of diapers, they're all a little different.
