My 5 year old daughter wants Moon Sand for her birthday. Has anyone had any experience with this product? Is it super messy, or does it dry out quickly?

Thanks

Yuck! I bought some for my nephew & daughter to play with when he was visiting a few months back & I hated it! It was such a mess. They kids actually prefered playing w/ play-doh.

Moon Sand..."All the mess of the beach with none of the fun!" It doesn't come out of the molds easily, crumbles easily and overall is a frustrating experience for child and adult...two thumbs down!

I bought it for my daughter's birthday. I think it is pretty messy basically just like regular sand. I expected something different when I heard about it. I would recommend either playing outside with it or having a large oil cloth to put it on.

Hey H.! I don't know if it's just me, but my nephew bought some when he came out to visit me. I had sand everywhere! I personally wouldn't buy it, but he loved playing with it.

We LOVE Moon Sand and it is definately alot cleaner than Floam-that stuff is horrible. It is not that easy to clean IMO because you can sweep it and also it vacuums up really easily again IMO. Also, even though it's not possible these days-we like to play with it out on the deck at their little picnic table. Even if they leave it out for a day or so it doesn't dry out. HTH

My 6 yr old got Moon Sand for her b-day and LOVES it. I let her play with it on the table so it's easier to clean. It is messy but not that bad. I found it pretty easy to sweep up. I'm a clean freak and it really doesn't bother me so I don't think you'll have a problem as long as you don't mind cleaning up some sand. I thought it would be harder to clean up but it wiped up easy and swept up easy. (I have hardwoods so not sure how it does on carpet)
Oh and no, it doesn't dry up quickly.....

BTW: My sister got it at Toys R Us for $15. I know it sells on TV for alot more so make sure you get it there if you decide to get some.
Take Care!

H.,
My 5 year old also wanted Moon Sand for his birthday, b/c he said "Its out of this world!" We bought it, and aside from being pretty expensive, we have had no problem with it. His B day was in May, and he still plays w it! Hope this helps!

OKAY - NO MOON SAND!!!!! I spent two weeks trying to clean that stuff up from my house after he got it for Christmas last year! It is so fine that it is nearly impossible to get it all up the first two hundred times you try! My son had a great time playing with it, but it is SO not worth it. Get her ANYTHING else that she wants, but just say no to the moon sand! Good luck!

It is sort of messy (not too bad) but your 3 year old will love it too...
