Metal Taste in My Mouth... What Can It Be?

Hello moms... So I've lately noticed that I have this funky metal taste in my mouth. At first I thought I was pregnant, because I've had that with the other two, but I took a test and it's negative. Also got my period, so pretty sure that's not it. What can it be?? Sorry for being gross, but I feel dumb calling my doctor about this... Any idea??

What can I do next?

When I have reflux issues I tend to have a metallic taste in my mouth, and when my son had acid reflux as a young one his breathe smelt like metal.

It could be caused by medication including OTC meds.

Do call the advice nurse. They will not think you're dumb so why would you?

Any metal fillings? You may have a crack or something. Also your diet could have added some minerals that have a metal aftertaste.

Call your doctor.
I don't know the answer, but it is neat to hear someone else had the same thing with pregnancy that I did. It was a giveaway for me.

But since you are fairly certain that you are not pregnant, then call your doctor. The others are correct that it could be related to other things that might be best not ignored.

Don't hesitate to call your doc with any questions.

Zinc comes to mind, look it up on webmd or your favorite medical book.

Give your doctor a call. Strange tastes in your mouth can actually be a common sign of some other conditions.

I get migraines, and have a soapy taste in my mouth for about 24 hours following an attack. I know some people who get a weird taste in their mouths before having a seizure.

Worth getting everything checked out.

You could have an inner ear infection, or ear related issues. I have had much experience with ear issues, and the metallic taste was always due to that. It could be fluid draining making you taste that.

Call your doctor for a check up and bring it up then.

Are you taking any antibiotics? Biaxin is known for that and chocolate will usually help.

Have you had blood work up lately? Iron deficiency anemia can cause this sort of issue.

I don't know what causes it but I have had it before. Eating a dill pickle seams to work on changing that taste for a bit.
